A Mac utility by Rick Cranisky that crawls a website from a single URL and copies pages, assets, and linked files to your drive while preserving the site’s folder structure for offline reading.

SiteSucker has been a staple Mac archiving tool since 2001. Enter a URL, press return, and the app asynchronously downloads HTML, images, PDFs, style sheets, and related resources. By default it localizes links so you can browse the copy without an internet connection, but you can also save unmodified mirrors for maintenance or archival workflows. Download jobs can be saved as documents and resumed later — if a transfer is interrupted, SiteSucker pauses and stores progress so you can pick up where you left off.

Pro features and workflow

SiteSucker Pro extends the standard Mac App Store build with capabilities Apple’s guidelines do not allow in the storefront version. Pro can download embedded videos from YouTube, Vimeo, WordPress, and Wistia, with video settings to filter media types and prefer specific resolutions. It can also fetch sites on the Tor network when Tor is running locally, though the built-in browser cannot browse .onion addresses directly because of WebKit limitations. Settings control depth limits, file-type filters, authentication, PDF creation from pages, and localization behavior — useful for designers archiving reference sites, developers mirroring documentation, or anyone who needs a portable snapshot of web content they are authorized to access.

Licensing and platform

The app is a universal binary for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs and requires macOS 12 Monterey or later according to the developer. SiteSucker Pro offers a 14-day trial limited to 100 files per download session; full use requires a license purchased through the in-app registration dialog or the FastSpring store. The vendor states the tool should only be used for content you have legitimate rights to access. Version 6.2.0 is part of the current 6.2 release line listed on the official site.
