This is the Volume License Edition for Microsoft Office for Mac 2016. The version included is 15.11.2 and there is NO patch needed, it installs without any serial and can be updated to the latest version.
After the install you are prompted to sign In to Access Cloud Storage. You can skip this step.
Auto-updater:
After installing you can auto-update the apps to the most recent version available (which is 15.13.1 on time of this post).
You do NOT need to block any connections but you can. This are the hosts you apparently can block:

Basically you can block everything Office related minus the hosts to auto-update. Also, do not block the connections needed if you use Outlook or OneNote.

This needs 6.45 GB of space on your hard-disk. It installs the complete package of Office including Word, Excel, OneNote, Outlook and PowerPoint. It also installs all languages and fonts.
