eBookBinder

A lightweight Mac utility from Xelaton that compiles existing text documents into ePub eBooks through a simple three-step workflow — metadata, chapters, then Bind Book — without requiring manual HTML packaging.

You create a book project, enter title and author details (plus an optional cover image), then add chapters by importing plain text, Word, ODT, RTF, HTML, Textbundle, or Textpack files. Each file becomes one chapter; drag to reorder. Markup sources in Markdown, MultiMarkdown, Textile, Wikitext, BBCode, Smark, or the newer ApexMarkdown engine convert automatically on import, with an optional splice mode that splits large Markdown files at headings into separate chapters.

Output and editing on Mac

Binding produces a standard ePub readable in Apple Books and most e-readers; optional kindlegen setup adds Mobi output for Kindle. A built-in chapter editor handles basic formatting and a Reduce feature that strips everything outside a selected passage — handy for cleaning web articles. Advanced users can inject custom HTML heads and CSS stylesheets, import DRM-free ePub projects for editing, and export projects to share with collaborators. The project manager auto-saves book metadata and supports wide international character sets.

eBookBinder sells for $5.99 on the Mac App Store with a 30-day unrestricted demo from the developer site; it requires macOS 10.13 or later and is localized in English and German. Version 1.13.1 (August 6, 2026) redesigns Markup settings, updates ApexMarkdown to 1.1.13 with Quarto and Pandoc grid-table options, and refreshes the ApexMarkdown UI for macOS Tahoe.
