ColorSlurp

A Mac color picker that captures pixels from anywhere on screen, stores them in palettes and projects, and copies values in the format your design or code workflow expects.

Designers, developers, and artists often bounce between screenshots, websites, and native apps when hunting for a hex code or P3 value. ColorSlurp keeps that workflow in one place: open the magnifier, move it with the cursor or arrow keys, and copy the active color in one click. Long-press or precision mode slows movement for pixel-level selection; adjustable zoom and size help inspect UI details on Retina and wide-gamut displays.

Palettes, projects, and export

Version 4 organizes work into projects so client, brand, or theme palettes stay grouped instead of scattered in one long list. Drag colors to the bottom of the window to spin up a palette quickly, generate swatches from photos, or browse curated presets in the palette browser. Export targets include CSS, Sass, Swift, HTML, JSON, PDF, Sketch, Procreate, ASE, and Apple .clr files. Custom color formats let you define templates—for example linear RGB for 3D tools—and palettes retain their active color space for accurate storage.

Tools beyond picking

The Tools tab adds a contrast checker with WCAG and APCA methods, a color wheel, and a random color generator. Copy menus support modern spaces such as OKLCH, LAB, and Display P3, with per-format settings and searchable format lists. iCloud sync keeps palettes aligned across Macs; ColorSlurp 4 also runs on iOS with camera picking for on-the-go palette building.

Licensing and fit

ColorSlurp is free to download on the Mac App Store with a Pro upgrade for advanced palette and export features according to the vendor. Screen picking requires Screen Recording permission in macOS System Settings. If you only need occasional hex codes, the built-in Digital Color Meter may suffice; for organized palettes, accessibility checks, and developer-ready copy formats, ColorSlurp remains a focused specialist. Version 4.0.1 adds automatic palette backups, expanded localization, and reliability fixes on top of the ColorSlurp 4 redesign.
