A native macOS app for downloading and converting online video and audio from a large catalog of streaming sites, with inline trimming, subtitle capture, and browser extensions so you rarely need a separate converter or clipboard workflow.

The core loop is simple: paste a URL (Command+V), drag a link or thumbnail onto the window, or send the current tab from a Safari, Firefox, or Chrome extension. PullTube resolves the stream, lets you choose format and quality, and downloads to your Mac with progress in the main window and Notification Center alerts when jobs finish. Batch pasting via Command+O accepts several links separated by spaces or new lines, and playlist URLs expand so you can download everything or pick individual entries.

Quality, codecs, and conversion

According to MyMixApps, PullTube supports up to 8K, 4K, HD, and 60 fps sources where the host provides them, with HEVC (H.265), VP9/VP8 (WebM), and AV1 among supported video codecs. A built-in converter can save MP4 video or extract audio to MP3 and M4A without leaving the app, and multi-part streams are stitched automatically. The HQ panel applies format and quality defaults across the current queue, and a “remember HQ” preference can lock your preferred settings for repeat downloads.

Subtitles, trim, and extras

Subtitle support includes embedded tracks and YouTube auto-generated captions, downloadable alongside video or as standalone files. Trim mode lets you crop start and end points before a full download, export short clips at up to 720p directly from preview, or save trim bounds and process at full resolution later. You can also generate iPhone ringtones (M4R, up to 40 seconds), save or share thumbnails, and keep a download history plus a “download later” list for links you want to queue without fetching immediately.

Extensions, proxy, and licensing

Safari and Firefox extensions ship with the app; the Chrome companion installs manually because of Web Store policy, as documented on the developer blog. HTTP and SOCKS proxy settings help with region-restricted sources. PullTube is sold directly by MyMixApps with a seven-day trial, one license covering two Macs, and macOS 11 or later (Tahoe compatible per the vendor). It is also distributed on Setapp, which lists build 1.8.6.36 as the current version. MyMixApps does not publish per-build release notes on its website—the public product page still showed 1.8.6.34 at research time—so patch-level changes for 1.8.6.36 should be confirmed in the in-app updater after installing.
