A compact Mac media player aimed at opening AVI, MKV, MP4, and other common files that QuickTime does not always handle, without installing a separate codec pack.

You drag a file onto the window or add it to a playlist. Playback covers pause, step, rewind, full screen, volume, screenshots, A–B loop, and an always-on-top pin so the picture can sit above other apps. The App Store listing also describes playlists with order and loop, audio-track selection, and output to stereo, 5.1, or S/PDIF when the hardware supports it. Deinterlace is offered for 1080i material. The vendor’s copy still talks about 1080p HD more than modern 4K workflows; treat ultra-HD smoothness as hardware-dependent rather than guaranteed.

Formats, subtitles, and discs

Built-in decoders are the selling point: video containers such as MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, WMV, WebM, TS/M2TS, and older camcorder types, plus audio such as MP3, AAC, FLAC, WAV, and OGG. Subtitles include embedded tracks in MKV and MP4, external SRT, SSA/ASS, SAMI, VobSub, and MPL2, with font, color, and size controls, plus auto-load when the subtitle filename matches the video. Multiple subtitle tracks can be selected during playback. The App Store text mentions DVD and CD audio; Blu-ray is explicitly a paid upgrade to Total Video Player Pro. On the vendor’s own Standard vs Pro table, optical-disc playback is listed as Pro-only, so disc support on the App Store build should be treated as limited or uncertain compared with file playback.

Licensing and system requirements

The Mac App Store listing is currently Free, from EFFECTMATRIX LIMITED, with a statement that the app does not collect data. Localization covers English plus French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish. Direct sales on etinysoft.com still advertise a Standard build at $9.99 and Pro at $29.99, with Pro adding Blu-ray/DVD/VCD/CD playback and fuller subtitle auto-matching. The App Store build requires macOS 12.0 or later. Version 3.3.0 is the current App Store release.
