Note-C

A Mac notebook for collecting and writing notes, articles, and longer drafts while keeping every entry as an ordinary file you can open outside the app.

You create as many notebooks as you need and pick a folder for each one. Note-C builds a readable directory tree of plain TXT files (optional Textbundle packages if you prefer one bundle per entry). Because storage is not a closed database, you can search those files in Finder, edit them in another editor, or point the notebook at a cloud-synced folder. That is the main difference from Apple Notes or other lock-in libraries: the text remains yours even if you stop using the app.

Writing and markup

The editor is meant for keyboard work: automatic lists, tab-triggered snippets, shortcuts to move words or paragraphs, and a distraction-free mode that hides chrome. Font, colors, spacing, and background are adjustable. Markup support covers Markdown, MultiMarkdown, MarkdownExtra, Textile, BBCode, Wikitext, HTML, Smark, and ApexMarkdown, with a live preview and language-specific shortcuts. CriticMarkup is available for comments and revisions. Images are not pasted as opaque blobs in the note body; you attach files to an entry (previewed in-app) and insert pictures through markup when the language allows it.

Export and daily use

The export manager can send selected entries to plain text, RTF or RTFD, HTML, Doc or ODT (text only), Textbundle/Textpack, PDF, or an ePub. A menu-bar helper can capture strands and search notebooks without opening the full window. A 30-day unrestricted demo is available from the vendor; the paid build is $5.99 on the Mac App Store with Family Sharing. It requires macOS 10.13 or later, is localized in English, German, and French, and the developer states the app does not collect data. Version 2.7.2 is the current Mac App Store release.
