Meta A native music tag editor for cleaning messy metadata, writing consistent tags across many tracks, and organizing ripped or downloaded libraries on Mac. Typical work starts by dropping a folder into the window. The list shows tracks; the sidebar becomes a shared editor for the selection. Change artist, album, year, or artwork once and the write goes to every selected file immediately — there is no separate save step. That model suits DJs, collectors, and anyone who rips vinyl or buys from stores that ship poorly tagged files. Batch tags, artwork, and filenames Besides field-by-field edits, the app can transform text (case, substitutions, find and replace with regular expressions), number tracks after you drag them into order, and compose filenames or folder trees from tokens such as artist and album. Artwork can be dragged onto a selection, then cropped, scaled, or compressed. Tag Finder can pull missing tags and covers from Discogs without leaving the window. A Mixed Editor shows differing values across a multi-file selection so you can edit by group instead of guessing which tracks disagree. Custom sidebar layouts (standard, classical, podcasts, publishing) keep only the fields you use visible. Formats and libraries Writes go through TagLib. Supported audio includes MP3, MP4/M4A/M4B/M4V, FLAC, Ogg/Opus/Speex, AIFF, WAV, DSF, and DSDIFF, with ID3, MP4 atoms, Vorbis comments, RIFF INFO, and APE where relevant. Changes can stay in sync with Apple Music, iTunes, and Doppler when those libraries are in use. ID3v2.3 versus 2.4 — including UTF-8 or UTF-16 for Cyrillic — is a preference rather than a hidden default. Built-in file tools cover move, reveal, preview, and remove; playlists and tags can be imported or exported as CSV. Who it fits This is not a DAW, streamer, or stem separator. If the problem is inconsistent tags and folder chaos, it is aimed at that. It requires macOS 10.13 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel, ships in seven languages, and is sold as a one-time $22.99 purchase with a three-day trial from the vendor site or the Mac App Store. The Store build supports Family Sharing; the developer states the app does not collect data. Version 2.5.2 is the current documented release on the vendor notes and the App Store.
