OmniOutliner Essentials covers distraction-free outlining with unlimited nesting, notes, checklists, and built-in themes. Pro adds multi-column documents with pop-up lists, numbers, dates, and durations; saved filters and section focus in the sidebar; structural and named styles; row numbering; and Omni Automation plug-ins with Apple Intelligence integration on supported devices according to the vendor. Omni Links let you link to documents or specific rows and share those links with collaborators on OmniOutliner 6.

Mac workflow in version 6

On Mac, OmniOutliner 6 supports multiple windows on the same document so you can view different sections side by side, Spotlight shortcuts on macOS Tahoe 26, hide-able status bar, improved RTF export, and saved filter duplication. Documents sync through your Omni account across Apple devices when you purchase or subscribe once. macOS 15 or later is required on Mac; a fourteen-day trial is available from the vendor.

Licensing and fit

Pro is sold as a one-time purchase or subscription tier above Essentials on the Mac App Store and Omni site. If you only need simple nested lists, Apple Notes or a plain text outliner may suffice; OmniOutliner Pro fits anyone managing research, legal arguments, screenplays, or project plans with typed columns and automation. Version 6.2.1 is a bug-fix release improving multi-window sorting, paste handling, image attachments, and localization strings.
