A Quick Look extension for macOS that replaces plain-text previews with rendered Markdown, highlighted source code, sortable tables, archive trees, and metadata panels—all from the Space bar workflow you already use in Finder.

Parcse built Looq for developers, writers, and analysts who live in Finder but constantly hit files macOS previews poorly: `.md` notes, `.swift` sources, `.sqlite` databases, patch files, and ZIP archives. Install the app once, enable the extension, then press Space on any supported file to get a native preview panel instead of opening a separate editor or terminal utility.

What Quick Look gains

Markdown opens with GitHub-flavored rendering, a scroll-tracking table of contents, KaTeX math, Mermaid diagrams, alerts, emoji shortcodes, and live refresh when you save edits. Source files highlight across more than two hundred languages with editor-style themes, sticky scope headers, line numbers, and auto-formatting for minified JSON, XML, plist, CSS, and SQL. TSV and SQLite files paginate into sortable tables with column-type tooltips; diff files color old and new lines with tabbed multi-file support.

Archives, folders, and bundles

ZIP, TAR, GZ, and BZ2 archives browse without extracting, and folders preview in list or icon views with sorting and grouping. Metadata previews cover app bundles, IPAs, PKG installers, DMG and ISO images, torrents, and provisioning profiles with signing and entitlement details Quick Look skips. A menu bar extra in recent releases surfaces recently previewed files and Claude Code or Codex session files according to the vendor.

Licensing, privacy, and fit

Looq requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later, runs previews on-device, and sells as a one-time purchase from about ten dollars with a seven-day trial from Parcse; Setapp subscribers can also access it. Built-in diagnostics help detect conflicting Quick Look plugins and repair cache issues. Version 1.7.2 is listed as the current build in distribution channels checked at research time; official release notes for this exact version were not yet published on the vendor changelog page, which last documented changes in 1.7.1.
