Battery Indicator A tiny menu-bar app that shows remaining battery time and percentage on a MacBook, Air, or Pro — the glance Apple’s system icon stopped offering years ago. You put it where the system battery item used to sit (Command-drag to reorder or remove the built-in icon). The item can be an icon, text, or both. A “hide while on power” option clears it when the adapter is plugged in; launch the app again to flash the item for a few seconds if you think it vanished. Click the menu for status; hold Option to see battery condition and health. Notifications can fire at full charge or at percentages you choose. Shortcuts can quit, launch, or play a sound on power events on current macOS. What it cannot do The remaining-time number comes from macOS; the app does not correct a bad estimate, and an ellipsis after unplugging is normal until the system recalculates. Sandboxing blocks “Apps Using Significant Energy” and a “Charge to Full Now” button. The vendor’s workaround is text mode next to the system battery icon. It does not run on desktop Macs without a battery. Licensing and system requirements Sindre Sorhus sells it as a $6 one-time Mac App Store purchase with Family Sharing. The current build requires macOS 26.0 or later. Older free builds on the developer site target macOS 15 down to 10.14 and will not run on newer systems. Localization is English. The privacy label lists diagnostics not linked to identity. Version 2.20.1 is the current App Store release.
