Wipr 2 A Safari content blocker that hides ads, trackers, and cookie prompts on Mac, iPhone, and iPad without routing traffic through a VPN. Safari already ships with content-blocker APIs. This app fills those lists and adds a companion layer, Wipr Extra, for pages that still leak ads or scripts after the static rules run. The Mac build is a Catalyst app distributed as a universal purchase: one App Store license covers iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro. There is no “acceptable ads” program; filter policy stays with the developer, Kaylee Calderolla. How blocking works on Mac After install, you enable the Safari content blocker (and Extra where offered) in Safari’s extensions settings. Lists update in the background. Blocking is declarative: Safari applies compiled rules to page loads rather than injecting a full userscript engine. Extra is the exception path for stubborn sites—still inside Safari, still without a system-wide proxy. English is the UI language; regional blocklists cover extra annoyances that differ by country. The developer states that the app does not collect data. Accessibility includes VoiceOver, Voice Control, and related system features. You still decide per site whether Safari extensions are allowed, so a broken layout is usually an allowlist click away rather than a global off switch. Safari, Extra, and Filtr Core blocking is Safari-only. Other browsers and many native apps are outside that sandbox. Filtr is an optional in-app purchase that uses Apple’s system URL Filters (macOS and iOS 26) so matching hosts can be blocked outside Safari. It is not a VPN and does not wrap your connection. Filtr is sold separately—about $4.99 per year or $24.99 lifetime at research time—on top of the base app. Tip jars also exist in the store listing; they are optional. Requirements and licensing macOS 14 or later on the Mac; iOS 17 or later on iPhone and iPad. Apple Silicon and Intel Macs that meet that OS floor are in scope. The base product is a one-time $4.99 purchase with Family Sharing. There is no subscription for the Safari blocker itself. Version 2.35.2 is the current App Store build documented here; treat store “What’s New” as the source for that point release, not a rewrite of the whole product. Who it fits Choose it if Safari is your daily browser and you want a small, paid blocker with Family Sharing instead of a browser-only extension from another vendor. Skip it if you live in Chrome or Firefox, need per-filter dashboards like uBlock Origin, or still run macOS 13. Those users either need Filtr plus a newer OS, a different blocker, or both.
