A subscription-based 3D modeling application for Mac that pairs fast conceptual design in SketchUp with LayOut for construction documents, plus Trimble cloud and extension ecosystem access.

SketchUp Pro targets architects, interior designers, builders, and product designers who want to sketch in 3D without navigating full BIM complexity on day one. You draw edges and faces, push-pull volumes, organize with tags and components, and publish to LayOut for scaled plans, elevations, and presentations. Version 2026 continues Trimble’s annual release cycle with macOS Tahoe support and desktop build 26.2.242 for Mac in the 2026.2 update.

Modeling workflow on Mac

Work in metric or imperial units with inferencing, dimensions, section planes, and styles that control edge and face display. Components and dynamic components reuse furniture, fixtures, and entourage from the built-in browser or 3D Warehouse. Extensions add rendering, CNC, energy analysis, and trade-specific tools; the 2026.2 release lets Migrate Extensions copy plugins from an older SketchUp install without restarting the app. Shadows now use a faster rendering path that improves frame rates on large shaded models according to Trimble release notes.

Analysis Hub and LayOut

Analysis Hub debuts Advanced Shadows in 2026.2 so you can study sunlight by solstice, equinox, date, and time, then review results in the Analysis Viewer. Additional Labs analysis types cover daylight factor, annual illuminance, and direct sun exposure when enabled. LayOut ships with the improved graphics engine enabled by default, with macOS text kerning and superscript support plus clipping masks on groups and scaled groups for presentation sheets.

Licensing and fit

SketchUp Pro requires an active Trimble subscription with internet authorization at install and for some online features; annual pricing is published on the Trimble store. macOS 13 Ventura through macOS 26 Tahoe is supported on Apple Silicon or Intel Macs with at least 8 GB RAM and OpenGL 3.1-capable graphics per SketchUp help. Pro fits teams that want approachable 3D plus 2D documentation rather than full Revit-level BIM on every project. Build 26.2.242 is the Mac release of Desktop 2026.2 from May 2026, including Mac-specific fixes for Select tool shortcuts, Paint Bucket sampling, and Welcome Window dialog state.
