On the whole, cDock is one of those tools that should be provided by Apple but, fortunately, its developer has made it available to fill in the shoes of such a much needed default macOS utility.

Overview

Even though macOS comes with a mouse preference pane, it is quite limited as it offers insufficient options for customizing the scroll feature, the mouse’s buttons, and absolutely no mouse gesture support.

Smooze is an application designed to fill in the gap left by Apple in macOS’ mouse customization department.

Once launched, Smooze will add a status bar item with a menu which enables you to set the app to start automatically on login, as well to disable its custom scroll engine and button actions, and access its options.

Further customize your mouse’s scroll using predefined animations

Moreover, via its “Scroll” options tab, Smooze will help you choose how many lines you want to scroll each time you use the scroll wheel, and if you want the scroll action to be animated or not.

The animation can be customized using a collection of predefined transitions and can be set to be continuous, with a slider control next to the “Continuous Animation” option enabling you to customize its acceleration.

In the “Buttons” tab you can create your own mouse button actions, that can trigger shortcuts, control media apps, simulate mouse clicks and scrolls, as well as help you bring an app of your choice to the foreground.

Fashion custom mouse gestures and actions available in any app

Furthermore, on the Gestures tab, you can design custom mouse gestures which can be used in any app. For instance, you can devise your own mouse gesture scheme meant to help you add gestures to apps that don’t come with native support for such a feature, for example, Safari, iTunes, and TextEdit.

Although Smooze’s website focuses on its scroll customization capabilities, in my opinion, the global mouse gestures are its most useful feature.

That being said, even though scroll customization is not my cup of tea, I’ve created enough mouse gestures to make Smooze an important part of my workflow.

More importantly, once set up, I completely forgot about it, and it kept doing its job throughout the whole day with no glitches or crashes.

Extend your Mac’s capabilities by adding extra power to your mouse

Regarding its resource consumption, Smooze needed up to 10% of a CPU’s core and around 40 MB of RAM during the first couple of hours of usage, going up to 110 MB after 7 hours of continuously running in the background.

The beauty of Smooze is that it will add much needed extra mouse customization options to macOS which will allow you to increase your productivity, and power up your mouse and apps with tailor-made mouse gestures and actions usable with any app installed on your Mac.

SynciOS Data Transfer automatically detects the connected devices and assigns them source or target status. Nonetheless, you can easily switch between them by pressing the “Flip” button placed in the center of the screen.

The utility will automatically scan the devices and display the type of data that can be transferred: contacts, text messages, call logs, apps, photos, music, videos, books, notes, or bookmarks. What’s more, SynciOS Data Transfer can handle both iOS (version 5 or later), and Android devices (going from Android 2.1 to 4.4).

Backup your phone content and restore only certain types of files

SynciOS Data Transfer also integrates backup capabilities: you can choose to quickly create SynciOS backups and decide what type of data should be included (you can choose to backup contacts, and ignore the apps resources files, for example).

The backups will be stored on your Mac’s drive, and you will be able to restore the files to your phone in no time. Note that SynciOS Data Transfer  can also scan and extract data from iTunes backups.

Time efficient solution for moving content from one mobile device to the other

Since SynciOS Data Transfer allows you to transfer data between phones without having to go though a third party server, or through a computer, the processing time is greatly reduced. However, the app cannot be used to preview the content, or to move single files.

Receipts aims to help you manage and organize incoming invoices in an efficient manner: you get to import the documents, and the utility will try to detect the amount automatically, convert it to the reference currency, and sort it by provider or category.

Bring all your invoices under the same roof and organize them into libraries

Right off the bat, Receipts generates a library database and prompts you to give it a name and specify the output location. Note that Receipts comes with a library manager that helps you switch between archives with minimal effort.

The next step is to start importing invoices: you can load files individually, or allow Receipts to add all the documents included in a particular folder.

For your convenience, Receipts comes with monitoring capabilities, and can automatically import new files from a watched directory. However, you will still have to review each new import manually.

Quickly view the amount of each invoice and keep them sorted by provider or category

Receipts offers you the possibility to define invoice providers and groups and each time you import a new document you get to assign them to any of the entries. As a result, you can effortlessly keep track of the receipts related to an individual project, to a particular company, and so on.

When importing, Receipts offers you the option to assign a date to the document, set the invoice amount and tax, and also store text notes. To streamline the process, Receipts tries to extract this information from the document, but you can also manually adjust the values before confirming the import.

Receipts can also automatically convert the invoice amount to the reference currency, generate reports, and deal with user defined VAT rates.

Invoices management solution that can deal with images, PDFs, or email data

To sum up, Receipts proposes a well-organized space where you can quickly import invoice reports, such as image files, PDF documents, or emails, and sort the entries by different criteria.

Nonetheless, the Receipts project is sill in an early stage, so some of the functions might not work as expected. During our tests, we were not able to generate graphs or rename the provider and categories items included by default.

What’s New in File Cabinet Pro 6.1

  • You can now open directories in New Tabs.
  • Removed the “Primary” and “Secondary” directory concept from File Cabinet Pro; this feature has been replaced by the new Tab Bar. You are no longer restricted to two directories to switch between, you can open as many tabs as you want.
  • Tabs in File Cabinet Pro’s new Tab Bar support springloading; you can drag files over a tab to select one.

Write Any Character in FCPX

ProFont Typeface gives users 97 character presets from various categories. All letters of the alphabet in lower and uppercase, numbers ranging from 0 to 9 and a slew of special characters are all available to choose from. ProFont Typeface gives users the ability to create text animations like they’ve never had before.

Very Easy to Use

ProFont: Typeface provides a simple control panel that lets users have all the control they need without any extra complications. This includes placement controls, color changes and animation controls. Users can opt to use the on-screen control to position, scale and rotate characters, or use the controls in the inspector window for mathematically precise alterations.

Change the Speed of Animation

Complete control of animation speed is possible using ProFont Typeface. By default, characters animate in from the start and out at the end of the preset. Switches are included so that users can turn off the animation from the start or at the end separately. Changing the speed of animations is as easy as dragging the slider control to a number ranging from 0 to 100.

Align Text with the Grid Tool

The Grid Tool comes in both title and effect form so users can apply it to individual clips, or place it on the top level of the timeline throughout the project. This convenient tool allows users to easily and effectively align text to a grid so that characters are perfectly spaced and positioned correctly within the scene. The grid color, size, and opacity can be changed and the lines can be offset to meet the needs of any shot.

Reposition all Characters at Once

ProFont: Typeface’s Compound Tool is the perfect tool for repositioning all the characters in a group at once. To use, simply create a compound click with the characters that will be effected and apply the Compound Tool to the Compound Clip. This tool gives users on-screen controls so that they can change the position, scale and rotations of all characters at the same time.

Designed Exclusively for Final Cut Pro X

The title and effect presets in this package are created for use only in Final Cut Pro X. Drag and drop character title presets into the FCPX timeline and use the controls in the inspector window to make alterations. Users can stack characters on top of each other to offset the start times of character animations and use the grid and compound tools to make editing as fluid as possible.
