Parallels Desktop is one of the oldest and most popular applications for virtualization on macOS. There are quite a few options out there for Mac users who want to run other operating systems on their Apple devices, but none are quite as intuitive and novice-friendly as Parallels.

This app allows you to Run Windows, various flavors of Linux, ChromeOS, Android, and many other operating systems in virtual machines, and it makes setting up and configuring these VMs incredibly straightforward. Much of the process is automated, and the virtualized OSes integrate well with macOS.

It really is that simple. Compared to alternatives like VirtualBox or VMware, it is much easier to create a virtual machine and install an OS. For instance, if you want a Windows 11 VM, the startup wizard guides you through the entire process. It only takes a few clicks and absolutely no technical knowledge.

If you skip the initial Win10 wizard, Parallels still has an installation assistant that can help you set up Windows, Linux, and many other operating systems. The Windows 10 Test and Development environments are available for free, as are numerous Linux flavors and Android, and you can even install macOS from the recovery partition or convert a Boot Camp installation to a VM.

Aside from installing Windows via Boot Camp, which isn’t likely to be supported on Apple Silicon, Parallels offers possibly the most seamless experience when running another operating system on your Mac.

MacBook Pro users can add Windows apps to the Touch Bar, Office integration lets documents in Safari open in their native Windows apps, and full support is available for Retina displays for the best visual experience.

What was deprecated or removed from Parallels Desktop 26

According to the statistics from the users who participate in the Parallels Customer Experience program, some product features are used very seldom or not at all. We have decided to either stop supporting them or completely remove them from Parallels Desktop and focus on frequently used features and further enhancements.

Below is the list of features that are no longer supported and have been removed in Parallels Desktop for Mac 26:

• Installing Parallels Desktop on Macs running macOS Monterey 12.
• Shared Bluetooth functionality. Bluetooth devices (e.g., keyboards, mice, or game controllers) connected to your Mac will continue to work normally in virtual machines.

Email clients that support Gmail aren’t exactly rare, but the vast majority of them use the IMAP protocol to retrieve and manage your messages, which means they can’t take advantage of Gmail-specific features such as inbox categorization, labels, and synchronized signatures.

Mimestream goes about it differently — it uses the Gmail API, allowing it to provide most, though not quite all, of the features you are familiar with from Google’s mail client. It’s also worth noting that the app is written in Swift, so it will integrate very well with macOS and provide a much smoother experience than, for instance, an Electron-based app.

Whenever I try to manage my Google Mail account with anything other than Gmail, the one thing I miss the most is email categorization. Without it, my Inbox is flooded with promotional and social-media-related messages that I’m very much not interested in.

With Mimestream, you get all of this functionality and a lot more. Your aliases are also synced automatically, as are your signatures, and you can take full advantage of Gmail’s labeling system.

Of course, not all Google Mail features are available using Gmail’s API. For instance, you cannot snooze emails, but given everything else that the app can do, this is a very minor issue.

A very swift Swift-based app

You’ve probably used an Electron app before, and it’s difficult not to notice how sluggish most of them are, while also not integrating well with the OS, and sometimes even looking out of place.

There are no such issues with Mimestream. It is written in Swift, making it much more resource-friendly and fast, in addition to integrating perfectly with macOS and supporting a wide range of keyboard shortcuts for managing your mails.

In short, if you use Gmail and happen to own a Mac, you have absolutely no reason not to grab Mimestream. It is infinitely better than using Apple Mail to connect to your Google account since it uses the Gmail API, and it integrates perfectly with the OS thanks to being written in Swift.

Video cue software that can deal with content coming from various sources
To start working on a Mitti project, you first need to import the visual content you want to include in the visual presentation. Mitti is able to load video or image files, but you can also connect cameras or Syphon or NDI servers.

You get to import files or folder to the Mitti playlist with drag and drop, and the same rule applies if you wish to reorder the list. Note that each entry comes with its own control bar that enables you to customize the output further.

Adjust the image color, rely on built-in video effects, and get control over the audio output
Via the Mitti Cue Settings panel, you get to adjust the image opacity, brightness, or contrast, and adjust the red, green, and blue proportions. The app also sports an extensive collection of video effects and enables you to set a custom title to each cue.

In addition, you get to toggle the audio, add fade in or fade out effects, replace the visual source, or put the respective cue on loop. Make sure to navigate to the project’s Preferences if you want to adjust the SMPTE frame rate, the fade duration, the timecode input, the audio input, and so on.

Prepare visual representations to be displayed on multiple screens and deliver visual content from multiple sources
Mitti is a video cue software that enables you to prepare video and audio performances ahead of the event. The app can work with video or image files, or you can configure camera or Syphon or NDI servers cues.

SiteSucker is an Macintosh application that automatically downloads Web sites from the Internet. It does this by asynchronously copying the site’s webpages, images, PDFs, style sheets, and other files to your local hard drive, duplicating the site’s directory structure. SiteSucker Pro is an enhanced version of SiteSucker that can download embedded videos, including embedded YouTube and Vimeo videos.

SiteSucker can be used to make local copies of Web sites. By default, SiteSucker “localizes” the files it downloads, allowing you to browse a site offline, but it can also download sites without modification.

Limitations due to AppStore sandboxing and other Known Issues:

• An AppStore App is not allowed to read system sensors (SMC), so we cannot show detailed temperatures and other sensor data such as fan-speed.
• An AppStore App is not allowed to read all processes on the system. This means that the Top-3 App List will not necessarily contain the processes that are currently using the most resources. The List will however show the applications that are using the most resources.
• MONIT will underreport Memory usage for Applications in the Top-3 List that spins of sub-processes which we are not allowed to read. In practice, MONIT is quite accurate given the sandbox restrictions it operates under, but for certain applications it will underreport. If you compare with Activity Monitor, you should compare with “Real Memory” and aggregate memory usage of sub-processes.
• The thermometer uses an Apple API that does not seem to work properly on older Macs. On MacBooks from 2015 and later it appears to work fine.

Notes:

• The Widget connects to an external host to get your Public IP-address. This is the only reliable way to obtain your address. No data is sent, only read.
• The Top-3 App List shows App CPU usage normalized (0-100%).
• Temperature for your Hard Disk(s) and Battery is displayed according to your settings for Measurement units in System Preferences > Language & Region. If you have selected Metric you get temperature in Celcius otherwise in Fahrenheit.
