User Interface

As the most obvious change, DEVONthink 3 brings a completely overhauled single-window interface including support for dark mode. The extended sidebar gives you access to your databases, favorites, smart groups, smart rules, and filters as well as to a new reading list, import options, and more. Inspectors present metadata about documents and groups, offer AI assistance, and let you set reminders or search within the document.

Capturing text, audio, and voice notes, screenshots, or web clippings becomes much easier with the redesigned Sorter. More subtle are the numerous changes to the search engine which now better supports Asian languages, indexes also PDF and RTF attachments, and highlights search hits more precisely. Its enhanced search language allow you to use prefixes to run complex searches without touching the mouse. Focus the displayed items on tags, dates, marks, or geolocation using filters.

Office & Teamwork

If you’re working in an office environment DEVONthink 3 brings you a new 64-bit optimized OCR engine that supports multiple CPU cores, Asian languages, barcode detection, and multiple output formats. Add custom imprints to images and PDFs including placeholder text and Bates numbering.

The rewritten web interface gives your coworkers or clients access to your databases even when they’re not using a Mac. User accounts and per-database permissions let you define what web visitors see and can do. TLS support makes sure all connections are encrypted.

Other improvements include geolocation metadata, ratings, and custom, typed metadata that you can add to all documents and, of course, search. When importing documents, you can let DEVONthink convert metadata to tags, and tag images automatically using machine learning.

Markdown and HTML documents can be edited side-by-side with a rendered preview, sheets with tabular data support specific data types and have a form view. Formatting and editing bars keep frequently used tools at hand and adding cross-references has become more versatile with improved WikiLinking and support for the square bracked syntax. DEVONthink 3 now also supports EPUB ebooks and, useful for research, collects highlighted search hits and metadata for you into summary documents.

Automation

Last but not least, we have massively extended DEVONthink’s automation options for version 3. Smart rules perform actions based on events and search queries, where events can be anything from a scheduled time to the arrival of a newly imported document. You can also attach one-time or repeating reminders to any document. They support several alarm options including running scripts. Insert dynamic data in templates, imprints, or smart rules without requiring any programming skills.

Of course, DEVONthink 3 brings also many under-the-hood enhancements. To name just a few: better file system integration for indexed files, better background processing, e.g. for email archiving, indexing, or generating thumbnails, and an improved overall performance.

What’s New in DEVONthink Pro 3.0.1

This first update brings fixes and improvements to DEVONthink. Reordering the Navigate sidebar is now possible. Preferences > General now allows databases’ Tags groups to be shown in the item list for each database, and tags can again be created with commas, e.g., when typing author names. Synchronization of indexed files and monitoring iCloud background uploads has been improved. Some new smart rule event triggers allow for actions to be taken before sync begins, after it finishes, or after manually renaming files. Annotation files now can be conveniently exported out to the Finder in several formats. Additionally, the update brings many fixes, including: better dark mode support in the Sorter, text wrapping in plain and rich text editing, more reliable autosaving when closing tabs or windows, and some interface glitches.

Improved

The sections of the Navigate sidebar can be reordered by drag and drop.
Added new section Sidebar to Preferences > General, containing a Unify Tags option to display the Tags group of open databases in the Globals section of the sidebar.
Added an Export command in the popup of the Annotations & Reminders inspector, supporting exports of the current annotation file to several formats.
Double-clicking on any database or group in the Navigate sidebar now expands or collapses it. Regarding groups, the behavior depends on the setting of the Double-click opens groups in a new window in Preferences > General.
If a database is open, selecting it in the Favorites section of the Navigate sidebar now shows the root level contents, like favoritegroups.
The Delete toolbar button now supports deleting items from local and global smart groups.
Renamed the Backup toolbar button to Optimize as it’s identical to File > Optimize Database.
Added a shortcut to the command Go > Workspaces > Update.
Double-clicking items in the Reading List sidebar now opens them in a new document window or an external application, depending on the state of the option Double-click opens documents externally in Preferences > General.
Improved the speed and reliability of indexing of PDF documents when the option Convert hashtags to tags option is enabled in Preferences > Import.
Improved conversion and exporting of Markdown, HTML pages, formatted notes, and web archives to PDF by using the HTML rendering instead of a rich text rendering.
The Clutter-free option used in the Clip to DEVONthink section of the Sorter is now disabled when selecting a format that doesn’t support this option.
File > Import > Bookmarks > Safari now displays an alert if Full Disk Access is not enabled in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy (macOS Mojave or later).
Revealing a replicant via the Instances popup of the Info inspector or popover now selects the replicant instead of just revealing the enclosing group. In addition, groups containing a replicant in the Instances menu now appear in red color.
Added support for .mht and .mhtml files created by Microsoft Word or exported by some third-party browsers, like Vivaldi.
Conversion of hashtags to tags now ignores numbers less than one hundred as these are often not hashtags but a score or ranking.
Added date options This Hour and Last Hour for use in smart groups, smart rules, and searches.
Added new smart rule triggers On Renaming and After synchronization and renamed On synchronization to Before synchronization. Before synchronization is now performed before uploading or downloading any data, After synchronization after completing all uploads or downloads and committing the changes.

OVC-128 is a massively-oversampled soft/hard clipping effect AudioUnit, AAX and VST plugin for professional music production applications. A common use for this plug-in is hard-clipping before the final peak limiter. This is an effective approach in contemporary electronic music when loudness is boosted using a clipper plug-in while minor excessive peaks are absorbed by a final peak limiter that applies no additional gain itself.

Clipping the tracks via OVC-128 is practically similar to clipping using high-quality outboard analog gear. At 44.1kHz source sample rate, the internal audio sample rate of OVC-128 is a whopping 5.6 MHz!

A perfect combination for contemporary electronic music production is OVC-128 followed by Voxengo Elephant mastering limiter in the “EL-C” or “EL INS” mode. This combination produces both energy and smoothness.

Note that OVC-128 is a relatively CPU-demanding effect plug-in, it requires a higher-end processor for comfortable use. Performing 128X-oversampled clipping on a single stereo track is computationally similar to performing simple clipping on 1000 tracks.

Voxengo is happy to release OVC-128 version 1.3, a massively-oversampled soft/hard clipping effect plug-in for professional music production applications, available in AAX, AudioUnit, VST and VST3 plug-in formats, for macOS and Windows computers.

TotalSpaces is a desktop manager that brings back grid Spaces to OS X and more!

TotalSpaces2 provides a grid of spaces on your Mac. An easy to use 2D grid of desktops. Navigate using the cursor keys (by default together with SHIFT-ALT), choose your transitions, and quickly access a birds eye view of your grid of spaces where you can manage your application windows. You can even give your spaces names.

One of the most useful features of TotalSpaces2 is that it allows you to assign certain applications to particular Spaces. This means that if you have a 3×3 grid, you can ensure that your Twitter client is always in the top left space and that your email client is always in the middle right.

Switching between applications using Command Tab, by default, displays the applications in the order they have been most recently used. this means that your email client may require a different number of Tab presses each time you switch to it. By using TotalSpaces2 to assign it to a specific position in a grid, you can rapidly and reliably switch to it at will.

TotalSpaces2 is especially useful on smaller screened devices, such as the MacBook Air line. On larger screens it is possible to display two programs side by side, however, on 13″ and smaller screens, things become very cramped if you try this.

Personalize the looks of the macOS Dock

cDock is a simple, clean and straightforward macOS application that enables you to install a 2D Dock on your Mac running 10.9 or later. On top of that, cDock helps you personalize the appearance of your Dock with several dock styles included in the app.

With the help of cDock you can make the Dock transparent or install one of the pre-defined dock styles with just a couple of mouse clicks. Within the built-in collection of themes, you’ll find a dark and grey dock, as well as pink or full-screen ones.

Create your own Dock themes and apply them with ease

The best thing about cDock is that it allows you to rapidly and effortlessly create your own custom themes by manually changing the dock settings file according to your needs.

The settings info text file provides the necessary information about the values that you can modify in order to change the look of the Dock and automatically opens when you select the “Install Customizable Dock” option and hit the “Okay” button.

From cDock’s main window, you also have the option to restart the Dock or the Finder and, as mentioned above, to install the colored Finder sidebar. On top of that, you can easily restore the Finder and the Dock to their original looks if necessary.

cDock performed well throughout our tests and allowed us to try several different looks until we where happy with the appearance of both our Mac’s Dock and Finder sidebar.

On the whole, cDock is one of those tools that should be provided by Apple but, fortunately, its developer has made it available to fill in the shoes of such a much needed default macOS utility.

Connect AirPods (or other Bluetooth headphones) to your Mac with a single click or keypress.

AirPods are great, but they don’t work quite as smoothly with Macs as they do iPhones. You can’t tell at a glance whether audio will play from the AirPods or your Mac’s built-in speaker, you have to dig into a Bluetooth submenu to connect, and then you have to go back to the menu to see when the AirPods are ready for use. ToothFairy streamlines this: just click an icon in the menu bar (or press a hotkey) to switch to the AirPods, and the icon always shows whether they’re connected.

Works with AirPods, as well as any Bluetooth headphones, speakers, or headset that you can connect to your Mac.
Click the hollow AirPods icon in the menu bar to switch to AirPods. It fills in to show they are connected and also displays a battery indicator.
Supports multiple Bluetooth audio devices; you can choose a different icon and hotkey for each.
Get the best audio quality. macOS will normally use the SCO codec if it thinks you’re going to use the microphone. ToothFairy can ensure that it uses the higher quality AAC codec when you only care about audio output: listening to music or video or playing a game.
Disconnect a Bluetooth device by clicking the icon (or pressing the hotkey) again, so that you can switch back to your phone. AirPods and Beats devices with an Apple W1 chip do not need to be manually disconnected, and you can set them to “Connection only mode” to avoid accidental disconnetions when pressing the hotkey multiple times.
ToothFairy automatically launches at login, so it’s always there when you need it.
Optionally hide the Dock icon so it only appears in the menu bar. With the Dock icon hidden, you can rightclick (or Controlclick) the menu bar icon to access the settings.
Run a shell script when the AirPods are connected or disconnected.

Note: ToothFairy works with devices that can be connected via the macOS Bluetooth menu. Please make sure the devices you want to connect have been paired to the system correctly before using them with ToothFairy.

WiFi scanner

From AirRadar’s main window you easily scan for nearby open and password protected wireless networks with just a couple of mouse clicks.

All discovered networks are displayed in an easy-to-read list that you can sort according to the SSID name, Signal strength, Signal average and maximum power, Noise level, Channel number, Encryption type, last seen data, BSSID and specifications.

Thanks to the context menu you can open the Details window, join the network, add it to Favorites or delete it from the list.

Network information grabber

By accessing AirRadar’s Details window, you can view detailed information about the selected network. Hence, you can view the channel frequency, encryption method, discovery date, Vendor name and more.

The Graph tab helps you visualize the signal strength and noise level over a certain period of time. You can even use the Comment section to write down observations, notes or warnings.

Intuitive interface

The top toolbar helps you load or save a network list, join the selected network, disconnect from the WiFi, add the network to your Favorite list or Filter and stop the scanning process.

Handy assistant

You can use the Network Setup Assistant to determine which WiFi channel you should use after scanning the local area for nearby networks within range. A list with suggested low-traffic channels will be provided at the end of the scanning process.

What is more, AirRadar automatically groups the discovered networks according to different criteria. Consequently, you can use them as filters to find open networks, secure networks, Wireless N and Generic Networks.

DynOne is a unique multiband parallel compressor designed from the ground up, using “very gentle and great sounding” linear phase crossover filters. Its design allows you to mix in compressed filter bands with the original signal. This makes it possible to shape and tonalize your sound without squashing its dynamics.

DynOne has four unique features. You can set minimum and maximum attack and release values for an adaptive compression timing which is dependent on the crest factor, making it sound musical. There is also a slider to set the envelope detection circuit to RMS or peak, or anything in between. And multi-mono to stereo variable channel linking. The last unique feature is that the sidechain input of each band is defined by a variable weighted mix of that particular band versus the other adjacent bands; one weighting slider gives you intuitive control over the sidechain inputs.

All of these features are available in an intuitive interface. It allows you to tonalize your sound and fatten it up, all within seconds.

Key Features:

Compression control for each of the 5 bands.
Parallel mode where you add the compressed signal to the original.
Variable peak to RMS detection.
Multi-mono to stereo channel linking variable control.
Upward expansion possibility per band.
Set different minimum and maximum attack and release values. Compression will use values closer to minimum when the crest factor is higher and closer to maximum when it’s lower.
Weighting option to tweak the sidechain input mix for each of the bands. The weighted mix can vary between its own band and a combination of adjacent bands, so it gets closer to a single compressor behaviour.

Fatten up drum submixes.
Put the vocal more upfront in your mix.
All-in-one mastering dynamics control.
Enhance dynamics of drums.

The plugin has dependency to TBB.DLL (Threading Building Blocks). However, official installer put that DLL to unrecognized location. It means official version does not even run on the most computers. We are pretty sure that there are no Windows user buyer for this plugin.

Our release includes the latest version of TBB runtimes. It will be installed to System32 dir. We tested our release on fresh installed computer to be sure. Don’t forget to install MSVC2019 runtime!

Display Maestro gives you full control over attached displays, allowing the use of all available resolutions and bit depths. Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite strips out the useful ability to set specific resolutions and presents a more user-friendly approach.

Access the full list of resolutions and bit-depths supported by the graphics card and attached display. Note that some graphics cards may limit the display’s options.

Legacy App Support

Older games and apps sometimes require the use of precise resolutions, and can no longer set these automatically due to changes in Mac OS. Display Maestro lets you pick exactly the configuration you need.

Safety First

Display Maestro implements functionality that will detect if an unsafe resolution was chosen and will automatically revert to the last known safe resolution if confirmation is not given.

Pro users can also view advanced resolution and device information ranging from gamma configuration, RGB color points, scaling, samples per pixel, screen dimensions, device vendor IDs, refresh rate, manufacture dates, dots per inch, Retina (HiDPI) status, and more.
