THE OSCILLATORS
At the heart of MASSIVE X you’ll find the completely new oscillator section – capable of producing more variation than some entire synths, right at the source. Choose from over 170 wavetables and 10 different modes of reading them – from the aggressive Gorilla family, to a wavetable-bending mode, Hardsync, Formant, and many more – each with their own unique sub-modes and additional controls. Dial in two phase-modulation oscillators to inject extra movement into the main oscillators.
ROUTING REIMAGINED
Connect any output to any input, and see what happens. The intuitive routing setup lets you essentially rewire parts of MASSIVE X, meaning you can bypass, feedback, and send audio any way you like. It’s also possible to route modulators as audio sources to excite elements such as the comb filter.
PERFORMERS: MADE TO MODULATE
Draw precise patterns of modulation in the Performer section, and assign them to parameters for complex, evolving patches, or for controlled changes to your sound. You can then use the Remote Octave control to trigger them on your keyboard, meaning you get truly playable modulation and huge expressive variety within a single patch.
Tube Saturator 2 is a super accurate circuit simulation of a tube pre-amp with analog EQ, which can be overdriven gently for warming effects, or cranked for fat distortion. Like its predecessor, Tube Saturator Vintage, TS-2 is based on circuit simulation technology to capture every nuance of an analog circuit.
The circuit consisting of the individual tubes, resistors, and capacitors is converted into a mathematical system of equations which is numerically solved to produce the exact same sound as a real circuit. But while the original consumed large amounts of CPU power to compute the solutions in real-time, TS-2 uses large tables of pre-computed solutions.
The Saturation section of TS-2 runs about 7x faster than the original and yet the modelling is even more accurate. TS-2 includes the original circuit simulation of the three band Baxandall type EQ as found in many guitar amplifiers.
TS-2 has many other features. You can switch between 12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes for different harmonic characteristics. The EQ can be switched to run pre or post saturation. Saturation and EQ are separately switchable. Also there is a 2x oversampling mode using a very high quality resampling algorithm. Use 2x mode to attenuate aliased distortion harmonics. Use the mix control to blend the processed sound with the original. And finally, TS-2 has a gorgeous interface.

Even your study sessions are synced, so you can start on one device, and finish on another. You can even choose what you want to sync.
Sharing – Studies has a multitude of different file formats to share your study notes with others. You can export an archive that can be imported into Studies (or Mental Case) on another device. You can also import and export standard text formats like CSV and TSV, which are supported by many flashcard web sites.
Mental Case Migration – Studies is the next generation of the app Mental Case. If you have been using Mental Case on your Mac or iOS device, you can migrate all of your data, including the study history and scheduling, to Studies when you first launch. The original motivation for creating Serum was to have a dream synthesizer that did not exist: a wavetable synthesizer with a truly high-quality sound, visual and creative workflow-oriented interface to make creating and altering sounds fun instead of tedious, and the ability to “go deep” when desired – to create / import / edit / morph wavetables, and manipulate these on playback in real-time.
Serum version 2 blasts the sonic palette wide-open, offering the user ridiculous power, control and expression over their sonic output – with many oscillator types, flexible effect routing, arpeggiator and clip sequencer – the goal with Serum 2 was to empower Serum users to fully realize their sound and music ideas into form.
WAVETABLE OSCILLATOR
Serum’s now legendary Wavetable Oscillator has been refined with additional flexibility. Smooth Interpolation mode allows for near-infinite frame positions in the wavetable (no morph needed). There is filtering, FM, PD, ring mod, distortions and new wavetable warps. Even we have yet to fully explore the outer reaches of what can be achieved by the dual warps available for any of the main oscillator types.
MULTISAMPLE OSCILLATOR
Enables replication of real instruments and sounds found elsewhere. Serum 2 ships with a massive, exclusive, and original library of real instruments recorded around the world, including orchestra, choir, pianos, guitars, and much more. Create or import your own from multisample recordings using the (open standard and human-readable) sfz file format.

Despite the simple premise of playing back a sample, the Sample oscillator packs a punch. Despite being really good for sample playback and offering FM/PD/Distortion types, the sample oscillator also offers looping with snap loop detection, flexible loop modulation, a Rate control for ‘tape stop’ effects and similar, sample slicing with realtime score extraction / playback and tails mode, and more.
