For those who made some 3D creations using various specialized software solutions and need to work on them without having to install each program again, a utility like Metasequoia can be the right choice. This application manages to provide a strong set of features and make them available from a really friendly interface. There are several modes to operate Metasequoia, namely Beginner, Modeling (string), Modeling (icon) and Mapping.

Each of these styles comes with its commands for editing the loaded model, setting the appropriate lighting and more. There is a wide variety of objects that you can select and insert in the design, as well as some tools that are meant for modifying the model you are working on. The editing function that Metasequoia is equipped with are rather basic, but, nonetheless, cover all the necessary actions for handling objects, material faces and vertices. Each selected portion of the design can be fixed, stored or restored when needed, as well as fit to view or set as center of rotation. There are many customizations that can be made to the application from the ‘Configuration’ area, so you can assign, for instance, various actions to mouse buttons and key combinations. Texture rendering imperfections and some glitches that may occur can be avoided by adjusting the Direct3D and OpenGL preview options. All things considered, Metasequoia seems to be a worthy alternative to more complex utilities of its kind, especially thanks to the ease of use coupled with a good support for a variety of formats this software is able to work with.

It’s a tool to extend your knowledge, and it doesn’t matter what it is you want to learn – medicine, law, history, driving, aviation, fine art, music, or martial arts – from simple day-to-day tidbits, to knowledge of life changing importance. Studies is an app to help you achieve your learning goals.

  • Study Notes – Studies allows you to turn the information you need to learn into study notes, similar to traditional flashcards, but much more powerful. Notes can include as many sides as you like, each of which can contain text, images, audio, and even video. You can create your own, or download shared sets from Quizlet.com.
  • Due for Study – Studies includes scientifically-based learning schedules designed to make the time you spend studying as efficient as possible. Set a schedule based on your goals, from long-term learning to cramming for an exam, and Studies will automatically make notes due for study each day.
  • Study Sessions – Once you have a set of notes prepared, you can study them in beautifully presented study sessions, which make studying less of a chore. Grade yourself as you go, and studies will ensure the ones you don’t know very well will reappear more often in future sessions.
  • Statistics – Everything you study is tracked by Studies.   • Selective Sync with iCloud – Many of us now carry multiple Apple devices, and having your data silo-ed on one device is a drag. Studies includes iCloud sync using the latest CloudKit technology from Apple. Add notes on your desktop Mac, and they will appear on your iPhone or iPad when you come to study them later. Even your study sessions are synced, so you can start on one device, and finish on another. You can even choose what you want to sync.
  • Sharing – Studies has a multitude of different file formats to share your study notes with others. You can export an archive that can be imported into Studies (or Mental Case) on another device. You can also import and export standard text formats like CSV and TSV, which are supported by many flashcard web sites.
  • Mental Case Migration – Studies is the next generation of the app Mental Case. If you have been using Mental Case on your Mac or iOS device, you can migrate all of your data, including the study history and scheduling, to Studies when you first launch. You should even find your data takes up much less space in Studies than it did in Mental Case.

  • Added information if a resolution is interlaced in the resolution name
  • Added a new experimental “Events” features: a Display Set can be activated when specific System Events occur. Check the “Read Me” file for more information

Black Out lets you quickly hide sensitive parts of an image.
This can be useful when you want to post a screenshot or photo on the web that contains some information you don’t want to be revealed.

It also removes all metadata, like when and where a photo was captured.

Black Out is intentionally simple. It doesn’t have the ability to resize or rotate the black boxes. It’s meant as a tool to quickly redact some sensitive information, not to perfect an image. If need something more advanced, you can use Preview or any other graphics editor.

■ Getting Started
Either:

– Drag and drop an image onto the window
– Drag and drop an image on the Dock icon
– Click the Open button and choose an image
– Right-click an image in Finder and choose Black Out in the “Open With” menu
– Paste in an image from another app or Finder (Click “Paste” in the “Edit” menu or press Command+V)

Then click and drag to create black boxes over the parts of the image you want to hide. You can move a box around by dragging it. When you’re happy with the result, click the Export button to save your new redacted image. You can also copy the redacted image (Click “Copy” in the “Edit” menu or press Command+C) for use in another app, or paste it into a directory in Finder.

You can export to PNG, JPEG, or HEIC.

Tip: Black Out comes with a Quick Action. To use it, right-click an image in Finder, select “Quick Action › Customize…”, enable the Black Out extension, and then go back to the “Quick Action” menu item.

■ Frequently Asked Questions
‣ Does it support PDF?

You can open a PDF document, but you have to export it as an image. It’s almost impossible to reliably export redacted PDFs.

‣ Can you support blurring and pixelation?

Blurring and pixelation are intentionally not supported as they can sometimes be reversed (Search for “blurring sensitive” on Google). The only reliable way to redact something is to put a black box over it.

‣ I can already do this in the Preview app!

You can do this in any graphics app. The point of this app is to make the task super easy to do. Most graphics apps, like Preview, Pixelmator, and Photoshop, preserve metadata, which means you could accidentally leak information like the capture location. Black Out strips out all metadata.

TinkerTool System 6 is a collection of system utility features helping you in performing advanced administration tasks on Apple Macintosh computers. The application makes use of a self-adapting user interface which automatically adjusts to the computer model and to the version of macOS you are running. All options available in the current situation are accessible via “panes”, very similar to the techniques you already know from the System Preferences application. The features are controlled via a single window which allows you to use the application as a general toolbox and First Aid assistant.

This includes:

  • built-in maintenance features of macOS, usually not visible on the graphical user interface,
  • extended file operations, not available in the macOS Finder,
  • the possibility to access advanced system settings which are not visible in System Preferences,
  • genuine and unique features of TinkerTool System, designed to resolve typical real-world problems of administrators and to fix the effects of certain defects (“bugs”) in the operating system,
