Day-to-day Git on Mac

Gitfox organizes local and remote repositories in a manager you can folder-group and filter. Connect GitHub, GitLab, GitLab Self-Managed, Bitbucket, and Gitea service accounts to clone, create repos, and authenticate without juggling tokens in the terminal. README Markdown renders in-app with badges and images so project context stays visible before you open a working tree.

The changes view focuses on readable diffs: inline highlights within changed lines, search inside diffs, line- hunk- or file-level staging, and conflict resolution by choosing side A or B. External diff and merge tools (Kaleidoscope, Beyond Compare, VS Code, Meld, and others) integrate on direct-download builds; the Mac App Store build is sandboxed and cannot launch external merge tools per the vendor.

History and advanced workflows

Branch logs, an all-branches graph, tags, stashes, reflogs, bisect, and file history share one searchable timeline—by message, author, date, hash, or full-text across commit contents. Interactive rebase supports edit, reword, drop, squash, and fixup; Git Flow actions, worktree and submodule management, cherry-pick, and drag-and-drop for common branch operations stay in the GUI. A Quick Action panel (⌘P), customizable shortcuts, tabs, Quick Look, and terminal handoff support keyboard-first use.

Licensing and platform fit

Gitfox targets macOS 26.0 and later as a universal app on Apple Silicon and Intel. Pricing is a 30-day trial, then roughly €99 one-time (one year of updates) or €59/year on the direct channel; Setapp and Mac App Store distribution are also available. Recent major releases added Git LFS, commit signing (direct build only), and AI-assisted commit messages when Claude or Codex CLI tools are installed (non–App Store builds).

Version 4.6.3 is a small patch release that fixes Bitbucket OAuth scope decoding so connected Bitbucket accounts authenticate correctly again.
