Known Issues

In the File List pane, file type icon is missing if file type is .afphoto.
Assigning metadata via the Batch tool fails if preceded by a Move or Copy action.
Embedding ACDSee Metadata may fail if file type is PNG.
When embedding ACDSee Metadata, or writing GPS or Reverse Geocode info to many files, a delay may occur before the operation begins.
Search by EXIF Shutter Speed Value returns incorrect results. Workaround: search by EXIF Exposure Time.
Image doesn’t fit display when app moved to another monitor and Full Screen enabled.
File List items are sorted by name if items are uncataloged and sort method is based on EXIF or IPTC metadata.
Find Duplicates tool doesn’t work with iCloud Drive.
Restore Database will not begin if the database to be restored is currently open. Workaround: close all apps that are using the database to be restored.
Disconnecting an iOS device while importing will crash ACDSee.
Move to Trash will not work on images stored on cameras.
Batch Copy and Batch Move will not work for images stored on cameras.
PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) not supported.
Develop mode changes are not remembered when group is deactivated.
No method available to view RGB values while using Eye Dropper to set White Balance.
Cannot copy read-only EXIF metadata values to the clipboard.
Cannot read any ACDSee Metadata embedded in BMP, CUR, DDS, EXR, GIF, HDR, ICO, JP2, MEF, PBM, PSD, or TGA.
Batch Copy operation hangs when Place in subfolder option enabled, “Date” token added to the Name, and date format includes slash character (“/”). Workaround: In System Preferences > Language & Region > Advanced… > Dates, remove “/” from the desired format.
Import ignores video portion of Live Photos.
Keyword/Category assignment may fail if target is unscanned image basket item.
ACDSee will not function correctly if the ACDSee database is locked or read-only.
ACDSee does not support multiple clients connecting to the same database. ACDSee will become unresponsive if trying to connect to a database that is already open in another instance of ACDSee.
Status bar count may be wrong if empty smart folder selected.
Watermark tool Center button doesn’t center watermark for all images in the Batch if images are different sizes.
Running Batch Add Watermark while an unsupported image is in preview does not apply watermark.
Compare Images Active View is empty if selected image is an orphan.
Startup time may be impacted if Image Basket contains many items.
External Editors feature does not support images on cameras.
Keyboard shortcuts assigned to commands that can be renamed, (such as Categories, Batch Presets, External Editors), need to be re-assigned if command is renamed.
On macOS 10.14 and 10.15, writing a Spotlight Comment fails with error “Source file not found”.
Adding media files (e.g. audio, video files) to Image Basket is not supported.
The folder tree fails to refresh after cut/paste or drag-and-drop Move operations. Workaround: View > Refresh Folders Pane (option command R).
PSD files cannot be placed on the Map.

Notes

It’s highly recommended to embed ACDSee Metadata prior to importing or restoring a database from a previous version of ACDSee.
When importing a previous version’s database, please ensure the previous version of the application is closed.
Importing a previous version’s database may cause the Date Modified timestamp to update but does not modify the actual contents of the database.
In macOS 10.15 Catalina, apps require permission before directly accessing files in certain folders and external volumes. Please allow ACDSee to access files when prompted, or as follows: go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Files and Folders, find ACDSee, and check the applicable boxes.
ACDSee writes metadata to a sidecar file in a hidden subfolder relative to the original file if filetype is HEIC

Paint Layers allows you to create beautiful and unique watercolors by stacking watercolor layers, blending color washes and texture, and brushing in details. No artistic skill needed! Every photo placed in Watercolor Studio is automatically transformed into a watercolor with full control over settings. While it’s great to have complete control over what the paint does on the paper, some of the most beautiful effects occur in the experiment process. So have fun and try not to be too careful. You will be amazed at some of the paintings you will get.

Watercolor—Portrait is a wet-on-dry painting with all the characteristics of a true watercolor. Fine-tune portrait detail and shades, then smooth color using the liquid slider while keeping contours clear and color defined.

Watercolor—Landscape is an abstract free flowing wet-in-wet paint style, great for landscapes. Use it to spread indiscriminate details as if saturated with water for a loose wet watercolor painting with color that bleeds together.

Ink Wash renders photos into soft subtle paintings, consisting of one-to-three colors. Choose from a library of washes to create ultra inky paintings or light monotone ones. Combine with Color Washes and Outline Layers for an expressive piece filled with artistic character.

Liquefy is a transparent layer used to dilute and bleed color. Use the Liquefy Layer above one or more layers then brush with a continuous motion to blend areas where needed. This subtle effect smooths areas like a true paint brush dipped in water.

Color Wash blends handmade color washes and textures into the painting while retaining some or all of the original color. Use them to warm up, cool down or to dapple light and color throughout the painting with control over how much. Use render modes to combine washes with Watercolor, Ink Wash and Outline Layers for breathtaking one-of-a-kind art pieces.

Spatter adds liquid spots that actually looks wet and runny. Use them to add texture, age, and bits of color throughout the painting.

Canvas is the base of your painting. On this layer use settings to change the canvas style (paper). Choose between cold press, hot press or rough. Here you can also increase the pigment granulation in the watercolor and how dark or light the transparency of the color appears on the paper.

Reference Curve Presets

Enhance your mixing and listening experience by choosing between our predefined reference curves and speaker simulations. Reference, guide and choose between several popular speaker simulations by tilting, adding or decreasing some bottom end.

Reference sound everywhere

Mono Monitoring

Avoid clipping

Our Audio Calibration Engine boosts some frequencies to fill in the frequency response dips, and to make your speakers sound precise. By flipping the “avoid clipping” switch you will ensure that your audio output does not get become distorted when calibrated.

Dry/Wet control

This is not a conventional Dry/Wet knob that is used to mix the effect in parallel! The correction curve is actually being smoothed out when you raise or lower this knob to gradually reduce or increase the effect of a calibration.

Systemwide

New Presets sidebar allows easier management of user output devices and calibration profiles. More info regarding this can be found here.
[Win] Users can now launch Systemwide in ASIO mode if their output device does not support WASAPI. You can find the option to do so in Settings – Audio.
Starting from this release onwards Systemwide will detect if a new version is released and notify the user. User can also manually check for updates from Systemwide GUI. Disable the notifications from Settings – Notifications.
[macOS] Support for macOS 10.15 Catalina added
Output channels can be selected separately, as opposed to having them in pairs. Useful for switching the Left/Right channels or configuring more complex setups.
Retry button now available if license activation fails due to network issues.
Systemwide starts in Dark Theme for new users if their operating system is set to dark mode too.
User has the option to disable the GPU process, which can decrease energy consumption but might introduce visual artifacts. Find the option in Settings – General.
Setup guide flow slightly improved to provide more clarity for new users.
[macOS] Fixed a bug that caused multiple notifications to appear at the same time.
[Win] Fixed a bug that prompted users to calibrate unsupported devices, crashing the playback engine.

Plugin

Starting from this release onwards Reference Plugin will detect if a new version is released and notify the user. User can also manually check for updates from the Plugin.
