The SampleTank 3 interface is divided into 3 main “environments” for layering, mixing and editing sounds and grooves. We’ve taken the main aspects of the music production workflow and separated them into 3 main functional environments: the “Play” interface, the “Mix” interface and the “Edit” interface.

SampleTank 3 Overview:

The Play interface

The PLAY page will be immediately familiar to SampleTank users: On the left is the browser where you load Multis (previously known as Combis), Instruments and Patterns. On the right is the Part Viewer where you can see the contents of each Part and adjust its most basic parameters. SampleTank 3 lets you load multiple MIDI patterns in each Part. Now you can build inspiring grooves directly within the software and play them at will. The Live tab lets you bring SampleTank 3 on stage with you easier by giving you a clean way to organize your performances by set lists and Song, letting you have your sounds ready to play instantly with its smart loading management system.

The Mix interface

The MIX page provides a traditional mixer interface with 5 effects slots for each channel. There are 21 channels in all: 16 channels for each Part, 4 returns for global “send effects” (like reverb and delay) and a master channel. This arrangement lets you get extremely creative — you can have up to 30 effects on a single instrument!

The Edit interface

The EDIT page provides full access to SampleTank 3’s powerful synthesizer engine. There you can run your samples through everything from envelopes to LFOs to filters – And speaking of filters, SampleTank 3 features 16 filter types for extreme sonic sculpting.

SampleTank 3 now supports direct integration with iRig Pads, IK’s ultra-portable MIDI groove controller. Plug in your iRig Pads (or other pad-based MIDI controller) and you can take advantage of SampleTank’s Pad interface, which lets you assign SampleTank 3’s 16 parts to the 16 pads on your controller for a seamless and tactile “out-of-the-box” music production experience.

TH-U is able to load rig models created from real setups. The Overloud proprietary technology allows our engineers to sample and capture the response of an entire rig, including the nonlinear and dynamic response of the amplifier, the cabinet, the microphones, the mic preamplifier and the room sound. Rig To Model technology allows you to capture both analog and digital setups. The Rig Player, integrated into TH-U, allows you to reproduce any nuance of the sampled rigs.

FEATURES:

AMP TWEAK

Thanks to its innovative dsp technology, TH-U features a new panel which allows you to change the pre and power tubes models, as well as to simulate the action of a variac. This allows you to mod any amplifier model with an almost limitless combination of tubes and opens the product to new sound capabilities.

3D CABINET SIMULATION

TH-U offers a matrix of 4 microphones which can be placed anywhere in the 3D space in front and even behind the cabinet. Just drag a microphone and place it where you want.

Change the relative distance between microphones to obtain creative phasing effects, just like you would do in a real cabinet room.

The new G-Env includes custom grid sizing, snapping, a step mode and new curved lines giving you total control over modulation shapes with ease.

You can now import your own custom samples into one of the 3 sampler Oscillators in ANA 2, or choose from the included library of sounds to make your presets standout.

This is where ANA 2 goes epic! Assign any chord to any key to create world-class chord progressions.

Work CMD and ANA 2’s arp together, for an incredibly powerful tool creating complex chords progression, insane arps with beautiful chord changes or the darkest of techno stabs with huge six note extended chords from the preset list.

We think there is nothing out there in a synth to match the CMD / Arp combo and the world of possibilities it brings to the producer.

Modulation Matrix

Working fast is essential in today studio environment, and with ANA 2’s mod matrix you can see, edit and control multiple modulations at a glance.

Nearly every parameter on ANA 2 can be used as a target using one or all of the many sources. These can quickly be assigned, set up and controlled using right click assignments or via the mod matrix panel.

Macro Controls

The modulation in ANA 2 is comprehensive and will become an extremely powerful tool when designing sounds.

It is further enhanced when used in combination with the macro controls. Here you can assign several modulation targets to one knob, available on the front panel or assigned to a controller. Add custom names to the controls for that personal touch.

How Does It Work?

Scaler is a plugin instrument capable of outputting MIDI as well as audio. With regard to the latter, a piano, guitars, strings and several sampled synth sounds are built in for scratch work, so you can quickly get a chord progression together for export as a MIDI file entirely within it.

Obviously, though, the idea is to trigger other instruments via Scaler, and how this is set up depends on the host DAW. For VST hosts, Scaler loads as an instrument plugin onto a MIDI track, the output of which is sent to a second track (hosting the target instrument) using the DAW’s routing system.

For Audio Unit hosts (ie, Logic Pro), the included ScalerControl MIDI effect plugin is loaded up instead. This is identical to the regular Scaler, but sits in front of the target instrument on the same track, outputting MIDI directly to it. It’s certainly the more elegant of the two approaches, although it only captures the raw triggering notes to the track, not the chords output by the plugin.

ArcSyn is a synthesizer instrument plug-in based on typical analogue synthesizer architecture, i.e., a “virtual analogue” synthesizer. Unlike many virtual analogues, it doesn’t try and emulate a particular ‘real’ synthesizer, nor does it use 90% of your computer’s CPU time to emulate a filter which can be cloned on a 2″ (5 cm) square PCB with $5 worth of components ? Instead, it takes the “road less well travelled” and explores some unusual avenues of analogue (and digital) synthesis—the sort of capabilities you might find on a well-stocked modular synthesizer, including: unusual waveforms, dividers, logic functions, frequency shifters and so on. ArcSyn also introduces the concept of LFO wave sequencing, allowing extremely complex modulation patterns.

ArcSyn is laid out approximately like a MiniMoog, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to start editing programs and creating interesting sounds, although if you take the time to work out how the LFOs and modulation matrix operate, you’ll be able to create much more complex programs. There’s also a RANDOM button which you can click at any time if you want some instant (not necessarily musical!) inspiration.

REVERB

As modern music can be a highly complex affair, with the layering of software instruments common place in most productions, the need for a CPU efficient reverb is increasingly important. As impulse response reverbs, otherwise known as convolution reverbs can be highly CPU intensive, we decided that developing an algorithmic reverb was the way to go, and set out to create a signal that was sonically pleasing, but lightweight and versatile.

We happily succeeded in the dsp department, but felt there must be a better way to visualise the signal, so we created the Sinescope. The Sinescope reacts to the signal in a way that sound waves would if they were reflecting off a surface, with the initial wave dissipating over time. The Sinescope visualisation allows you to monitor the tail of the reverb, and make accurate mixing decisions based on other sounds in the mix.

IMAGING

Having a great sounding reverb is a wonderful thing, but things can quickly become messy when the available space in the stereo field is limited, so it’s important to have the tools to place the reverb signal in the perfect place. With this in mind we included our best selling mono/stereo maker algorithm which allows you to narrow or widen the reverb, depending on your goals. But we didn’t stop there. We realise that once you have the perfect width, you will need to pinpoint a position in the stereo field with the reverb, so we included our best selling mid/side panning algorithm as well, to help you get the precision placement you need.

FILTER CUT

No reverb would be complete without the ability to shave off areas of the signal to prevent muddying the mix, so we included the analogue style filters from our Overtone plugin to remove any unwanted frequencies without affecting the original signal. The filter section allows you to select the low and high frequency range with slope controls from 12dB to 48dB octave and also see visual feedback from the spectrum analyser.

SATURATION

Saturation is that age old technique that adds that little something extra to your sounds, and as many producers add saturation after the reverb on their signal chain, we felt it only right to include this into the Oracle. But we haven’t added just any saturation… We’ve taken the same algorithm found in our powerful Halcyon plugin along with the unique FFT graph which clearly displays the additional processed signal in the the red graph. We’ve also included the attack and release parameters, so you can have hard distortion to warming and everything in between.

LFO

Adding movement to your sounds will keep listeners tuned in and engaged with your music. After this feature was so well received on our Halcyon plugin, we decided to experiment with LFO and reverb, and we’re so glad we did. The LFO function auto syncs with your DAW, as can do everything from gradually build the reverb signal over time giving a sense of tension and anticipation to your sounds, to ducking the kick drum keeping your mix tight and atmospheric. The LFO feature has 4 wave shapes which can be inverted to produce a variation to the effect, whilst the time sync ranges from 1/32 to 32 bars, so there’s a setting for all requirements. The range control allows you to choose the depth of the effect, from pumping to subtle.

FLANGER

The flanger combined with the other effects in the Oracle, allows you to really make something unique. This effect can be used to add a unique touch to your sound, and works especially well on percussive instruments and sound effects. You’ll find familiar controls of rate, depth, feedback and mix, along with the ability to switch between mono and stereo. Plus the visual display allows you to see what the effect is doing.

COMPRESSOR

Last but not least is the compressor settings. We knew that most producers add a compressor after their reverb insert to help make the signal more audible in a busy mix, so we added a compressor with a visual display that allows users to actually see what is happening to the waveform.

Simply pull down the threshold bar to the desired level and adjust the ratio, attack & release to see in realtime how the sound is being altered. The grey area shows the amount of compression taking place, making it simple and accurate to dial in just the right amount of makeup gain.

Overview

‘Spooker’ is a unique VST by accomplished UK producer LX Xander of Ghostcraft, designed for dark Trap and Hip Hop production.

Containing over 50 decidedly spooky sounds, this powerhouse VST’s arsenal is both diverse and original, with creepy bells & plucks, horror movie sound FX, ghostly pianos and biting synths. All sounds were designed by LX Xander himself.

‘Spooker’ features a quirky ‘spookiness’ dial that, when turned, adds a unique chain of FX to the selected sound, transforming gentler instruments into monstrous, foreboding tones and making harsher synths sound even more menacing.

LX Xander has produced tracks that feature Hopsin, Wiz Khalifa, Royce Da 5’9 and Future and has been written about in HuffPost, The Source, RESPECT Magazine & The Hype Magazine. LX’s dark sound is now starting to get recognition from the upper echelons of the music industry.
