Quickly create timelapse videos by importing the image sets with a simple drag and drop and adjusting the playback speed with the help of a slider bar

Processing image sets in order to create high-quality timelapse videos can prove to be a tedious task. The Persecond macOS application reduces everything to simple drag and drop movements.

Import the image sets by navigating to the source folder or drag and drop them on top of the app’s main window

Working with the Persecond application proves to be both fast and intuitive. After you feed the source images to the utility, Persecond will automatically sort them and generates a preview so you can visualize the timelapse video almost instantly.

However, keep in mind that the source image files must have the same dimensions and that you should use an extensive collection for best results. If the image files do not have the same size, Persecond will show an error message, and simply not import any picture.

Preview the timelapse videos and effortlessly adjust the rendering speed

Within the Persecond main window, you can view the video running normally or in reverse, and you can easily adjust the playback speed. In the bottom area of the window, you can see the total video duration, and you can press the spacebar to pause the playback.

Moreover, Persecond offers you the possibility to edit the video content by modifying the in and out points. If you are satisfied with the result, you can choose to export the video to Cinemagraph Pro for further editing, or you can save it to a ProRes or H.264 video file.

REFINEMENTS AND CHANGES:
Compile:
  • In Compile, it is now possible to turn off the preservation of centred text when formatting is overridden on a section-by-section basis. It is also possible to tell Scrivener to preserve tabs and indents in a Section Layout that otherwise overrides the text formatting. Both of these options are available via the new paintbrush icon at the bottom of the Section Layouts pane.
  • Removed “Hide section in ebook” Section Layout Compile option for Kindle format, because the Kindle currently ignores this ebook option.
  • Addedplaceholder for headers and footers. This is the same asbut outputs the title of the parent document for the page group.
  • Compile will now flag up when formats have the same internal ID (which can cause issues). This could be caused by a Time Machine restore or by copying formats manually in the Application Support folder, and is not likely to occur often. A warning icon is shown for problematic formats and a “Fix Duplicate IDs” option appears in the contextual and gear menus when this condition exists.
Editing:
  • Text completions and emojis can now be added to Scrivener’s main editor Touch Bar.
  • “Heading” and “Title” paragraph styles now use Keep-with-Next by default in new projects.
  • The Format Bar can now show fractions in font sizes.
  • Added a “Reload from Original Image” option to the contextual menu of linked images in text.
  • Collapsed footnotes and comments in the Inspector now use an icon rather than text to indicate their type, allowing more room for the comment text preview.
Media Files and Web Pages:
  • When viewing audio files, the playback controls no longer fade out but remain visible.
  • Added ability to insert the current media’s file stamp in the focussed editor (Insert > Media Time Stamp). To do so, you need the editor to be split and for it to be showing a sound or video file in one editor with the focus in the text in the other. (You can set the format of the stamp via the Behaviors > Playback Preferences.)
  • Added “Allow limited navigation in web pages” option to Navigation Preferences. When ticked, you can navigate around imported web pages to some degree, and the contextual menu allows you to navigate back and forward. Note that Scrivener is not a dedicated web browser, however.
  • You can also now hold down Option when clicking a link in a web page to open the link inside Scrivener’s browser when “Allow limited navigation” is turned off.
  • When Scrivener resolves an alias file, if that file is on a volume that is not mounted, Scrivener no longer tries to mount the volume, which could lead to long lock-ups as macOS tried to access the volume.
Script Writing:
  • Added “Paste Plain Text as Screenplay” to the “Edit” menu (only available when a script document has the focus in the editor). This attempts to convert any plain text on the pasteboard to screenplay format, allowing for easier pastes from Final Draft and Movie Magic Screenwriter.
  • In Scriptwriting mode, the “General Text (Centered)” pop-up menu shortcut is now “E” rather than “C”, which clashed with the shortcut for “Character”.
  • It is now possible to set script mode to insert text at the start of a line when hitting tab (under the Tab/Return area of Script Settings).
  • Added 1.2 line spacing as an option to Script Settings.
  • Added a newplaceholder that can only be used inside the tab “Insert” fields of Script Settings. This can be used to automatically insert the current playback time of a video or sound file in the other editor by simply hitting tab.
  • Added a new “Transcript” script format that takes advantage of the new time stamp placeholder, intended for use while working with a video or sound file in the other editor.
Statistics:
  • Project Statistics now show the average, longest and shortest document lengths.
  • Added “Show allowance in progress bar” option to document target settings. When ticked, the overflow allowance is shown in the right side of the bar.
Other Changes:
  • Added an option to the “Behaviors” Preferences to turn off 3.0’s new behaviour of deleting text dragged out of the editor to other areas of the project.
  • Added an option to exclude the screenshot when tweeting Project Targets (“Include screenshot when using Twitter service in Project Targets”, available in the General > Services area of Preferences).
  • In the binder contextual menu, “Move to Trash” is now replaced with “Delete” for items contained inside the Trash folder.
  • It’s now possible to permanently delete a trashed document from a collection or search.
BUGS FIXED:
Major (Stability):
  • Fixed bug that could cause hang in referenced auto-numbers.
  • Fixed bug whereby an exception could be thrown if using macOS full screen with Composition mode and trying to close the project using the close button in the main window.
  • Fixed bug whereby if formatting was applied to multiple sections in Scrivenings mode, if any sections were identical, the formatting would only be saved for the first of the identical sections.
  • Hopefully fixed crash relating to displaying unknown file types.
  • Fixed a bug whereby the “Author” attribute in the Scrivener project’s XML could include invalid XML characters, causing the iOS version not to be able to read the project.
  • Fixed error that could be thrown on restoring Quick Reference panel tabs when launching Scrivener.
  • Fixed a rare bug that could cause a hang when exporting to Word.

Storage disks usually fail, sooner or later, so creating backups for your important files and folders on multiple locations is highly advisable.

ChronoSync is a macOS utility that is able to backup data, synchronize files between devices, or create bootable backups (suitable for backing up entire operating systems).

Effortless to setup synchronization and backup utility featuring a clean and organized design

Finding your way around the ChronoSync main window is fairly intuitive: start by setting up the source and target volumes, and then select the synchronization method and direction from the drop down menu placed in the center of the configuration panel.

ChronoSync is able to work with most volumes connected to your Mac.

Note that you have to synchronize files if you want to have access to them on more than one device: that means that ChronoSync will automatically copy the changes between the two volumes.

Backups, on the other hand, represent a one direction transfer from the source folder to the backup storage location.

ChronoSync is capable to create a bootable backup of your system on an external drive, or on another internal disk: this way, you will have an exact replica of your system that can be run immediately in case your primary installation breaks down.

  • Added logic to all of the assistants that ensures the ‘Tasks’ folder exists before proceeding to name & generate a task document.
  • Introduced a minor tweak to how detailed file information is displayed to prevent queueing up a bunch of display requests for the same item.
  • ChronoSync now disables the keychain UI to (theoretically) eliminate the “ChronoSync wants to use the ChronoAgentLocalKeychain” dialog from appearing.
  • Enhanced error logging for keychain API errors to help when debugging keychain access issues.
  • Implemented a completely different method of determining if ChronoAgentLocal is running and ready to receive connections.

  • ChronoSync now only simulates user activity on scheduled runs when the wake-to-sync preference setting is enabled to prevent unwanted screen wakes.
  • The Validator will now retry after content mismatches to eliminate a lot of ‘false negatives’ on cloud-based validations.
  • ChronoSync now posts more detailed error codes to the log for certain validation errors.
  • ChronoSync now posts error messages to the console log if a file system error occurs when refreshing an item’s attributes.
  • Tweaked the formula for calculating maxConcurrentOperationCount so that fewer operation threads are spawned for cloud connections.
  • Enhanced the retry delay logic to better respond to aborts during the delay.
  • Added diagnostics that get generated when the Bootable Backup or Disk Image Assistant fails to save the generated document.
  • Updated tooltips.
Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed a CRITICAL bug introduced in v4.8.4 whereby hard links recreated on the destination of a sync would all reference the same exact object.
  • Added logic that will force all multi-hard linked files to be synchronized on the next full run so that the new hard-link logic can correctly recreate them on the destination. If a sync has not been run since Nov 27th, 2017, the fix doesn’t need to be applied since that is the earliest date that the the bug could have appeared.
  • Fixed a bug whereby if a user abort occurred at precisely the wrong time, it was possible that the item(s) being scanned at the time of the abort would be force-synchronized even if they didn’t need to be copied.
  • Fixed a bug whereby if an open Container Task Document job was invoked from the Scheduled Tasks Manager window, there was a chance that aborting the run would lead to a hang.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause crashes if scheduling/clearing power manager wake events returns an unexpected error.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause a deadlock if scheduler jobs were being run with their sync/container task document windows open.
  • Fixed a bug whereby if the user chose a custom grace interval but not a max interval, the grace interval was allowed to exceed the default max interval of 300 seconds. We now assert a max interval of 3x the grace interval in such circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug whereby you could not open the Synchronizer Log window when running a Validation.
  • Fixed a bug when aborting Amazon S3 connections.
  • Fixed a bug whereby a never-saved task document that is ‘saved as default’ would become the default document rather than remaining unsaved.
  • Fixed a bug whereby a never-saved task document that is saved as a Template would become the template document rather than remaining unsaved.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the Bootable Backup Assistant to spin indefinitely if saving the generated document failed.
  • Fixed a bug whereby selecting a bookmark in the Log window was stealing focus from the log list.

Overview

Markster keeps your internet bookmarks in a central store. People use Markster because either:

  • The internal bookmarks facilities (Bookmarks Bar, Bookmarks Menu, Favorites Bar, etc.) in their web browser(s) do not meet their feature expectations.
  • They use more than one web browser, and prefer to keep all their bookmarks in a separate app, independent of the web browsers, instead of syncing the browsers’ internal bookmarks facilities together.

When Markster users want to visit a bookmark they have previously stored, or add a new bookmark, instead of reaching for the Bookmarks Bar or Bookmarks Menu in the browser, they bring up Markster’s Floating Menu. Markster provides three ways to do that:

  • Global Keyboard Shortcut, for example Cmd-Shift-D.
  • Dock Menu
  • Status Menulet (right side of Menu Bar)

  • Fixed several misbehaviors which could occur when exporting to Safari when user’s Safari bookmarks have been upgraded by Apple to the new CloudKit protocol.
  • Added two fixes for users of macOS 10.12, which seems to temporarily lose track of items after moving one. This can result in failure of the export with either Error 772031 Could not find a movee (if an item was moved into limbo after its original parent was removed) or Error 772032 Could not find movee’s new parent (if an item is moved into a moved folder). It is possible that this fix may also eliminate, in macOS 10.13, the occasional retrial which occurs under the hood after a few seconds, when an export to Safari initially fails.
  • Fixed bug which could be seen particularly if new item(s) were added to the root, causing the export to fail with Error 772031 or 772032, indicating Could not find a movee or its new parent.
  • Now succeeds when exporting to Safari a bookmark which was imported from Firefox as a Live Bookmark (RSS), if user’s Safari bookmarks have been upgraded by Apple to the new CloudKit protocol, instead of failing with Error 772030.
  • Improved a performance bottleneck when exporting to Firefox.
  • Fixed a bug which could cause a crash or failure to export to Safari if the exporting document did not have a Bookmarks Menu in its Settings > Structure.

Overview

Disk Arbitrator is essentially a user interface to the Disk Arbitration framework, which enables a program to participate in the management of block storage devices, to include controlling the automatic mounting of file systems.

When enabled, Disk Arbitrator will block the mounting of file systems to avoid mounting as read-write and violating the integrity of the evidence.

It is important to note that Disk Arbitrator is not a software write blocker—it does not change the state of currently attached devices nor does it affect newly attached devices to force a device to be read-only.

The user still must be careful to not accidently write to a disk with a command such as “dd”. Owing to this fact, a hardware or software write-blocker may still be desirable for the most sound procedure.

Disk Arbitrator compliments a write-blocker with additional useful features and eliminates the typical forensic recommendation to “disable disk arbitration.”

Working with the hr menu bar app is highly intuitive: simply launch the app, create a new project, and then add a new task to the list. The best part is that you can include your own notes detailing what you have to accomplish, and even assign a priority level (low, medium, high, or none).

Once defined, every time you begin working on a specific task, simply start the timer attached by default to each entry, and hr will take care of the rest. Note that a timer can handle multiple sessions, and that you can also visualize the total time spent on each assignment.

For your convenience, hr offers you the possibility to apply multiple sorting criteria for your tasks: name, priority, or updated status. Moreover, you can also arrange them manually, via intuitive drag and drop actions.

Further customization options include the possibility to disable the blinking menu bar icon, to choose to see the timer in the menu bar, or to automatically pause the timer when the computer is idle for a specific time period.

Since hr allows you to change the location of the app’s database, you can place it in your cloud service directory and have it synced to all your devices.
