New: Internal sidechain – An additional routing menu is now available in plugins with sidechaining ability, making it possible to receive internal sidechain sources from within StudioRack.
Fixed: When two instances of the same plugin were inserted into a StudioRack parallel or multiband processing rack, and automation was recorded for the same parameter in both plugin instances, a bug caused both automation lanes in the DAW to show only the first automation, making it impossible to modify the second automation lane independently. AudioSwitcher is a menu bar that allows you to switch quickly between all available input and output devices.  In addition you can change the volume of any device without having to change your current input / output.

You can quickly change the sample rate or output to multiple devices at the same time.

Using the preferences screen you can choose to ignore certain devices, set a default start-up input or output device as well as it’s volume.

AudioSwitcher supports any device available to the system: AirPlay, USB, HDMI, Thunderbolt, Bluetooth etc.

AudioSwitcher is ideal if you have multiple sound devices attached to your Mac and want to be able to switch between them without having to use System Preferences.

Tempomate is clever and beautiful metronome
– Auto Mode changes tempo periodically both up and down for serious speed training.
– Spice it up with various click sounds, time signatures, accents and rests.
– Save your favourite tempo, time signatures and auto mode settings in nine memory slots.
– Tap tempo to find that precise beat in your head. During use, the clicks synchronise to your tapping.
– Resize the window for bigger interface or go straight to to full screen mode.
– Tempos from 20 to 360 bpm.

Set the tempo

– Click on large arrows above and below the tempo value.
– Drag the numeric value up/down with the mouse.
– Press Up/Down to change by 5 bpm. The value is rounded first, so you can move between numbers ending with zero or five.
– Press Left/Right to change by 1 bpm.
– Press Enter, type in the value and press Enter again to confirm.

Play and stop

– Press Spacebar to play and stop or use the button on screen.

Notes and accents

– Click on time signature to change.
– Click on notes to cycle between accented note, normal note and rest.

Auto mode

– Auto mode changes tempo periodically which is useful for speed training. You can set the bpm amount and time interval.
– Press A or click the auto mode button to start.
– Click on bpm and time interval to type in value or drag the value up/down with your mouse.

Presets

– Save your favourite tempos, time signatures and auto mode settings in nine memory slots.
– Press S to save current preset. This will save tempo, time signature, accents and auto mode settings.
– Press Cmd+1 to Cmd+9 to save current settings as another preset.
– Press 1 to 9 from keyboard to load a preset.
– Press P to cycle between presets.

Sounds and volume

– Press O to cycle between available click sounds.
– Press Cmd+, to open Settings and choose sound from list.
– Drag volume slider or press Cmd+Up/Down or Cmd+Left/Right to change volume.

Tap tempo

– Click TAP button or press T or Backspace at least three times in a row with more or less constant interval. New tempo is calculated as average of your last taps.

Click light

Press V to toggle click light.

Full screen mode

– Press F to enter or leave full screen mode. Escape also leaves full screen.

Yate has a long list of features; most importantly, an innovative scripting system called actions. Actions can be used to update all of an album’s tags with a single operation. Yate also supports integration with AcouticBrainz, AcoustID, Beatport, Discogs, iTunes and MusicBrainz. All changes can be easily reverted and individual changes can be undone in any order. Version 6.0:
The Action Manager

  • Many actions are written which do not require selected audio files. These include actions which dynamically load files, those that manipulate databases, etc. The issue is that actions cannot run without at least one selected file.
  • There is a new column in the Action Manager named Always. When the column is enabled, it is treated as a hint to the action runner. The hint is used as follows:
  • if files are loaded and at least one is selected, there is no behaviour change.
  • if files are loaded and none are selected, one file will automatically be selected. The named variable File Auto Selected will be set to 1.
  • if no files are loaded, a temporary file will be supplied and selected. The named variable Temporary File Supplied will be set to 1.When the action terminates, the file is removed. Note that if the file is renamed or moved it will not automatically be removed.
  • Note that the All Files column settings are applied before the Always interpretation.
  • It is still your responsibility to ensure that selected files are not modified, if that is your intent.
  • Actions with the Always setting will be enabled in menus, main window toolbar icons and edit panel action buttons when there are no files selected.
  • Two new action statement categories were added: Import/Export and Preferences.

The Glue is a high quality analog modeled plug-in based on a cross between an E and G series SSL 4000 buss compressor with some additional features. It uses the same high quality algorithms used in circuit simulation packages but optimised for real time use. It’s quick and easy to use and has an uncluttered interface.

Additions include an ultra-fast attack time of up to 0.01mS and a Range knob which backs off the compression to give incredibly natural sounding attacks and limits the maximum amount of compression applied. Also included are external sidechain support and an adjustable side-chain highpass filter.

Spectre is a sound-shaping tool that combines the best features of an enhancer coupled with a graphical parametric equaliser.

Spectre processes the difference between the input signal and the EQ signal, introducing harmonic content to just the part of the spectrum that you want from a variety of saturation algorithms based on classic recording hardware.
Spectre can be used on individual tracks, sub-mixes, the entire mix and is ideal for mastering.

Multi-band enhancer
Spectre does not work like a conventional EQ. Spectre introduces harmonic content that was not in the original recording, bringing colour and life to the sound, not possible with a conventional EQ. This ability to offer almost phantom content across the audio spectrum led us to the name Spectre.

Spectre process the incoming audio with a five band parallel EQ, it extracts the difference between this signal and the dry input and process it through one of the ten saturation algorithms included, then it mixes it back with the dry input. The result is a signal with character, full of color, with bigger and warmer low frequencies, shiny shimmering highs and powerful mids.

It can bring dull recordings back to life, it can make a bass track more suitable for small speakers and it can even work as a high-end stereo widener thanks to the mid / side matrix.

Pro-R: Fixed a bug that could cause Decay Rate EQ bands set to High Shelf with a factor above 100% to have no effect on the sound.
Pro-Q 3: With Gain-Q Interaction enabled, Cmd/Ctrl-dragging a positive dynamic range in the display would flip the gain to negative.
Pro-Q 3: Double-clicking on the instance name in the Analyzer panel and making it empty would not work correctly when the name was already set to the default.
Saturn 2: Optimized CPU usage with various distortion styles, most notably British Rock and British Pop.
Volcano 2: The mono AU plug-in now no longer uses the “FF” prefix in the plug-in name.
Volcano 2: Fixed a bug that caused modulation connections to a filter on the right or side channel to display an incorrect modulation target.

What is so special about this weird and wonderful device?

For some time, hardware equalizers had to each be developed with a specific purpose in mind, requiring engineers to combine different EQ types in one signal chain in order to achieve the frequency response they needed on any given source. They would have to accept the necessary evil of the resulting phase and intermodulation distortion when treating these sounds. When released in 1961, the Klein & Hummel UE-100 Universal Equalizer changed all that.

This all-tube minimum phase EQ used six discrete filter modules to create a collection of band-pass filters that could create dynamic curves for any application from source mixing to vocal tracking to mastering. While some earlier UE-100s were used to transparently filter out junk low and high frequencies when printing to tape and vinyl, it quickly became commonplace to take advantage of the unique pushbutton frequency selection; this provided an easy way to not only recall settings, but also alter them on the fly while recording a performance. The UE-100 became known for its musically warm curves and precise response, offering a myriad of possibilities for treating frequencies by boosting and/or cutting across the spectrum to shape sounds “like a Pultec on steroids.”

That tube-powered universal sound and innovative behavior from K&H is now available to you in plugin form. The Lindell TE-100 is an exacting emulation of all the sweet and savory frequency treatment offered by the original hardware EQ. Right down to the pushbuttons on the interface and the all-tube filter bypass, the TE-100 re-creates this piece of German audio history with immaculate realism. Only now, a stereo pair won’t cost you $10,000.

Hone in on your sound with low and high pass filters at each end of the TE-100, then boost at one of four critical frequencies with rounded or high-Q shelf bands to add body and presence. Create dual parametric band-pass filters in the TE-100’s mid section to quickly bring out the true character of your sound. The pushbutton frequency selectors offer a unique way to shape your frequency response by focusing on each corner frequency of a filter and moving those frequencies closer or further apart while letting your ears guide your mix decision.

The TE-100 plugin also adds a few useful extra features that help improve workflow in the digital environment: Maintain full control across a variety of mix situations by taking advantage of level calibration, internal oversampling adjustment, and an analog mode that adds additional tone coloration and noise floor taken from the original unit. Dial in precise gain adjustments in 0.5 dB steps, contrasting the 2 dB to 3 dB resolution available through the knobs of the original hardware. With the Lindell TE-100, the legacy of the original Universal Equalizer can be brought to your DAW in a convenient digital form that stays true to the hardware.

The Holy Grail of Smooth Compressors

Give your music the sound of silky-smooth Abbey Road RS124 compression – the legendary velvety tones heard on every Beatles recording made at Abbey Road. With two distinct flavors to choose from, this classic tube model is the only software emulation of the ultra-rare RS124s, approved by Abbey Road Studios.

Few pieces of gear define music history as the RS124 does. The custom-built RS124 compressors were the secret weapon of Abbey Road engineers during the ‘60s – favored by Geoff Emerick for punchy bass sounds; by Ken Scott for lush guitar treatment; by Norman Smith for lightly gluing the entire rhythm bus. RS124 was also a popular choice for mastering in Abbey Road’s cutting rooms.

The RS124 sound is especially famous for the thick, creamy bass tones it produced on Beatles classics such as “Rain” and “Come Together.” Abbey Road engineers would typically push the input of the RS124 deep into 15-20 dB of gain reduction, producing wonderfully lush results on numerous sources.

Today, Grammy®-winning pop/R&B and hip hop engineer Tony Maserati consistently applies RS124 tones to his vocal tracks, including those of Beyoncé and Alicia Keys, to supplement their stunning voice qualities.

The RS124 was actually an extensive in-house modification of the American Altec 436B compressor. It is believed only 25 units were ever created, and each serial number was hand-built by Abbey Road/EMI technical legends Bill Livy, Len Page and Mike Bachelor.

Naturally, no RS124 unit sounded exactly the same. Each had different sonic qualities and attack/release times, due to constant tinkering of the components used. As a result, some units were more suited for tracking, others for bus compression and disc cutting/mastering duties.

Accordingly, the Waves Abbey Road plugin features two distinct RS124 flavors, modeled from the original hardware:

•Studio models RS124 serial no. 60070B – a favorite unit used for tracking at Abbey Road from the late ‘50s into the ‘60s, due its faster attack and release times. This is the more aggressive sound of the RS124, which creates a beautiful “squashed” sound on transients.

•Cutter is a modification with slower attack and release times. The slower RS124s were favored for studio reduction mixes and in Abbey Road’s cutting rooms during the ‘60s. The more relaxed attack made these units suitable and more forgiving for bus compression and mastering purposes.

The RS124 is a feedback compressor with a variable recovery. Want it to become more aggressive? The included “Super Fuse” mode matches release time to attack time, creating a brutal compression character that sounds like it’s “fighting against itself.” Try this on your drum bus for complete room destruction.

The legendary RS124 left a huge sonic fingerprint on the Abbey Road ‘60s sound. Since its rediscovery in the early 2000s, this important, rare and unique compressor in still being used at Abbey Road Studios today. Now, its one-of-a-kind sound is yours.

The dream synthesizer did not seem to exist: a wavetable synthesizer with a truly high-quality sound, visual and creative workflow-oriented interface to make creating and altering sounds fun instead of tedious, and the ability to “go deep” when desired – to create / import / edit / morph wavetables, and manipulate these on playback in real-time.

Serum will let you stack a single oscillator to use up to 16 voices. Each of the wavetable oscillators have a number of unison advanced parameters. Stack settings allow for note (e.g. octave) layering to get a fuller sound for a single note-press. Set the unison voices to all have their unique waveform at once with the Unison WT Pos setting, or have them all skewed in a different way with the unison Warp control. A variety of unison tuning modes per-oscillator let you get the stack sound blooming or swarming like you want.

Music, pictures, bookmarks, documents, etc can be found quickly and easily. Search can be made on any kind of build in volume, portable volume (pendrives, memory cards, USB drives), network drive (AFP, SMB, FTP), etc.

It does not matter if the searched file is hidden or system. The file does not even need to be indexed by OS X to be found by Scherlokk.

Audio Damage has announced the immediate availability of its latest plugin for Windows, Mac and Linux.

An architecturally unique and sonically characterful looping toolkit for producers and live performers, inspired by both modern looper pedals and vintage tape-based setups, Enso combines elegant and intuitive UI design with a deep but accessible feature set and stellar sound quality.

Enso’s operation will be immediately familiar to users of hardware looper pedals or plugins such as Ableton Live’s bundled Looper. Start playback of the host DAW, hit Enso’s record button and capture your instrumental performance into a loop of whatever length you like, up to ten minutes (five minutes on iOS). Then, without stopping playback, overdub further passes to create layered grooves, complex harmonic textures, or dense, evolving soundscapes.

Beyond those basics, though, Enso takes software looping into new territory. Two Overdub modes configure the plugin for conventional looper pedal behavior or Frippertronics-style ‘dual tape deck’ manoeuvres, affecting the handling of the Feedback parameter for an endless range of layering possibilities; and up to four Sectors can be effortlessly defined, each with its own start and end points, for on-the-fly rearrangement of the loop.

With Enso, time and motion become truly fluid, as speed and direction are handled completely independently for playback and recording, the ‘through-zero’ bipolar Speed controls smoothly transitioning from forwards to backwards, and vice versa, in real time. Want to record forwards at half speed, while simultaneously playing the buffered loop in reverse at 1.25x? Of course you do…

Onboard tape-style saturation, filtering and chorus effects bring dirt, frequency-shaping and stereo thickening to the party; and a comprehensive MIDI assignment system makes it a snap to set your MIDI pedal or button controller up for operation of all Enso’s buttons and switches. With its animated play and record heads, meanwhile, the looping waveform display provides a clean, clear visual representation of the potentially mind-bending temporal acrobatics taking place, letting you get a handle on exactly what’s happening at a glance.

Discord4 is the latest version of our most popular and long-lived product, our Discord stereo pitch shifter. Originally modeled from the H910, Discord has long since become its own effect and a studio standby, and this version includes major additions to further stretch its capabilities.

The pitch-shifter consists of three separate algorithms: a “vintage” mode (the original Discord algorithm, modeled on the Eventide H910 and H949), a “clean” mode for more modern shifting sounds, and a “granular” mode for experimental effects. Each mode has its strengths, depending on the input material, and Discord3 has a broad palette of capabilities as a result. The P1 and P2 algorithms have full control over the buffer (window) size of the shift effect, for fine tuning the shift to the input signal, or for stranger sound effects. At the extremes of the six-octave shift range, some truly strange aliasing and artifacts can be had with this control.

Discord4 retains its pair of tempo-synced delays and bandpass filters from previous versions, and adds a reverb in the feedback loop (for easy access to “shimmer” effects). We have also replaced the modulation sources from the original with our all-new FLFO (Flexible LFO) design. Panorama controls are included to control the stereo width of the wet signal. Finally, soft saturation and limiting have been added or improved throughout the signal path, for an overall improved sound and added vintage-style warmth, and to allow for extreme feedback experiments without fear of overloading your DAW’s channel.

• Pitch Shifting: Discord4 contains a pair of shifters with three separate algorithms (Vintage, Clean, and Granular) for different styles of pitch shifting.

• Buffer Size Control: The P1 (Vintage) and P2 (Clean) algorithms have a Buffer Size control, from 32 to 2048 samples, for fine-tuning the pitch shifting effect.

• Delay: Tempo-synced or free-running delays with feedback, cross-feedback, and a sophisticated bandpass filter.

• Reverb: A simple stereo reverb is added to the feedback path, for “shimmer” effects and further sound exploration.

• Modulation: Two of our new FLFO (Flexible Low-Frequency Oscillator) with tempo sync and an arbitrary waveform, capable of a nearly infinite number of modulation shapes using only three controls.

• True Stereo Operation: Discord4 has a true stereo signal path, with entirely independent control over each side, finishing with panorama settings for stereo width.

• MIDI Note Control: Six octaves of pitch-shifting can be controlled with MIDI note input.
