Classic rock drum gold – the big, obnoxious and loud kind.

The Classic Rock EZX comes with two kits as well as several additional instruments and extras derived from the Legacy of Rock SDX, an expansion for Superior Drummer 3 recorded by legendary engineer/producer Eddie Kramer at AIR Studios in London, UK.

Heavily inspired by Eddie Kramer’s work with primarily Led Zeppelin, all aspects of this EZX were designed to provide the ultimate source for instant classic rock gold – the choice of drum kits, the presets and the MIDI. This EZX simply bursts loud, reverberant rock from the onset and out. ‘The Amber Kit,’ which represents a reproduction of the acrylic kit that John Bonham used during the now-historic “The Song Remains the Same” recordings in 1976, has a truly unique, open-sounding and blaring tone. To contrast, ‘The Sparkle Kit,’ also a homage to a setup frequently used by Bonham in several classic sessions, presents a more traditional tonal palette while still offering that mandatory, deafening rock sound. In other words, two perfect kits for classic rock – engineered to perfection by the man who helped shape its very essence.

Even though rock may shift, change and take on new paths, one thing is perfectly certain: the drums remain the same – big, obnoxious and loud. If you’re looking to produce grooves that don’t make any excuses, you’re in luck. Welcome to the sound of rumbling thunder and an EZX literally chock-full of rock.

In simple terms, EZkeys Cinematic Grand is a prepared piano – a traditional instrument that’s had its sound altered by objects placed on or between the strings. But in this case, that’s simplifying too much. EZkeys Cinematic Grand presents an all-new hybrid instrument where perfect fidelity meets altered harmonics and layered textures to form never-before-heard piano timbres. Based on a classic Bösendorfer from 1891, this one-of-a-kind instrument was recorded in four individual configurations – one where horsehair was used as a bow on each piano string (‘Bowed’); one where the strings were struck by hand (‘Plucked’); one where various preparations were added to generate a muffled tone color (‘Damped’) and, in opposite, one where the overtones were exaggerated, producing an ambient and soaring timbre (‘Harmonic’).

These four configurations were then saturated with various chains of sound-shaping effects and used in different combinations to form unique fabrics of sound. Welcome to a piano that goes well beyond the tradition, ready to serve as sonic backdrop to virtually any mood, narrative or audio scene you can imagine. This is the ultimate “grand piano” for out-of-this-world compositions, just as perfect for soundtracks as it is for any stripe of modern music production or sound design. Prepare to be inspired.

Superior Drummer 3.1.7 is now available to download using the Product Manager or from the ‘My Products’ area in your Toontrack account. Please note that version 3.1.7 is required for the support of Superior Drummer 3 products released from this point forward (Q1 2020).
Changes

General
Added support for SDXs consisting of several sub-libraries even though installed as one.

Bug Fixes
General
The reported latency was too small when a sample rate other than 44100 Hz was used.
Fixed a sound glitch that could occur if a host requested less than 16 samples.

Drums Tab
It no longer crashes on Mac if you ctrl-click a stack pad and select a different sound from the context menu.

Grooves Tab
Changing position in a browser groove being played in original tempo caused the looping to jump back to the wrong position.
During browser playback with “Preview in Original Tempo” active, mixer effects that sync to tempo now use the correct tempo.
Fixed a possible crash when user MIDI was synchronized/added.
On Mac, the browser should no longer sometimes stay dimmed out when MIDI is dragged out from the window.

Grid Editor
Fixed a potential crash when Randomize was used.

Song Track
The undo system can now handle more than 128 song blocks.
Exporting audio using “Bounce Microphone Channels” would in certain cases (involving having instrument stacks) result in incomplete exports.
