SoftRaid 5.8.1

Download SoftRaid 5.8.1

SoftRAID allows you to create and manage disk arrays to increase performance and reliability. SoftRAID’s intuitive interface and powerful feature set make this utility a must-have for any Mac OS X Server admin, “Pro” user, photographer, digital-video editor, or desktop user who wants more reliable backup for his computer.

We are really excited about this release of SoftRAID. Eighteen months ago, we set out to create a new RAID Engine in software which would equal the performance and reliability of dedicated hardware RAID controllers, and we’ve more than accomplished that. SoftRAID is the premier disk driver for Mac OS X, replacing the basic functionality of Apple’s RAID driver, which has not been updated since 2009.

More RAID levels:

  • SoftRAID version 5 users can now create RAID 4, RAID 5 and RAID 1+0 volumes, with all the performance, monitoring and reliability features that users have come to expect from SoftRAID.

Outstanding RAID 5 Performance – exceeds 1 Gigabyte per second:

  • SoftRAID 5 offers incredible performance over Thunderbolt, with superior performance compared to most hardware RAID offerings.

Partial list of SoftRAID Features:

  • Support for all intel based Macs, 10.6 and later RAID 0, 1, 1+0, 4 and 5 (and nonRAID volumes)
  • All SoftRAID volume can be startup volumes.
  • Up to 16 disks per volume Up to 32 total volumes per Mac Support for Thunderbolt 1 & 2, eSATA, SAS, FireWire and USB
  • Automatic rebuilding of RAID volumes “Fast Mirror Rebuilds” for accelerated rebuild times
  • Disk error reporting
  • Email notification
  • Predictive failure analysis
  • Disk and disk certification
  • Volume validation SMART testing on all disks I/o requests by disk and by volume
  • Extended disk information: Hours of use, bus speed, reallocated sector count and media wear for SSDs
  • Disk labeling and blinking for identification
  • Complete logging of SoftRAID events
  • Command LIne tools Built in recovery tools for recovering severely damaged partition maps

Version 5.1 (b)
New ked Release supposed to fix this....
Can't change, remove or add drive labels, and can't create new volumes.......
I cant really test it, so feedbacks are really needed here !

Instructions

Register the pre-k'ed application with any serial (eg "123", "Apple", "XXXX", etc)

Untested, but should hopefully work well. Feedback in the comments below is appreciated!

Release Date: November 1, 2015

What's New in Version 5.1
New:

This version is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan.
The SoftRAID application now indicates if a disk has TRIM enabled.
The driver now uses only the primary disks for reading from mirror (RAID 1) and RAID 1+0 volumes if the primary disks are SSDs and some of the secondary disks are HDDs. This results in higher read performance with these volumes.
You can now resize a SoftRAID volume even if there are other volumes on the same set of disks.

Fixed:

Fixed a bug that could cause data corruption on RAID 4 and RAID 5 volumes which contain 2 or more unreliable disks.
Fixed a bug in the SoftRAID driver that could cause data corruption when validating out of sync RAID 4 and RAID 5 volumes.
Fixed a bug in the SoftRAID application that could cause the application to hang when it was quit. This could happen for instance after a disk was removed from the Mac when SoftRAID was blinking its disk light.
Added a workaround for a bug in Mac OS X that prevents some volumes from being unmounted.
Fixed a bug in the SoftRAID driver that caused changes to the list of primary disks for a RAID 1+0 volume to not take effect until after a restart.
Fixed a bug in the SoftRAID driver that could cause the SoftRAID application to hang if a disk was removed from a volume when it was rebuilding.
Fixed several bugs that affected how SoftRAID handled volumes that fail during validation due to a read or write error. SoftRAID now displays “validate failed” in the volume tile and adds an entry for the error in the SoftRAID.log file.
Fixed a bug in the SoftRAID application that prevented it from resuming a disk zero, verify or certify operation if the SoftRAID application crashed or was force quit. The new code saves the current position every 60 seconds so that an operation can be resumed.
Changed the disk certification code so that errors written to the log now include the pass number.
Fixed a bug that caused duplicate log entries of errors during disk certification.
Fixed several bugs in the SoftRAID application that affected adding or removing more than one disk from a volume simultaneously.
Fixed several bugs that affected rebuilding and validating read-only SoftRAID volumes.
Fixed a bug in SoftRAID that could result in the maximum volume size being incorrect in the volume resize window.
Fixed a bug that could cause the SoftRAID application to fail if a user tried to resize a volume and a disk was spun down.
Fixed a bug that could cause the resume operation dialog to appear if a user performed a zero disk, verify disk or certify disk twice in a row.
Fixed a bug in the SoftRAID Tool that prevented volumes from being validated when the validation was started from the command line.
Fixed a bug that could cause the SoftRAID application to use up all the free space on a disk when adding the disk to a small volume
