DetectX 2.86

Detect hidden files belonging to MacKeeper, keyloggers, and others

DetectX is the troubleshooting tool for your Mac.

The only troubleshooting app that runs on every version of OS X from 2011 to present and that allows you to:

Fix problems:

Use the Detector View to find and trash the hidden and not-so-hidden files belonging to apps and processes that can be responsible for performance problems. There are generally three categories of things the Detector searches for: commercial apps with hidden executables, adware and keyloggers.

Stay Informed:

DetectX warns you when 3rd party applications, processes or files are added or removed to crucial areas of your mac that may impact performance. The Inspector runs automatically on launch and whenever you manually use the ‘Record’ function in the Inspector View.

Analyse and Diagnose:

The History View keeps logs of all the Inspector’s runs and allows you or a technical adviser to analyse and diagnose what changes occurred on your mac. For convenience, you can review all logs, individual logs or just a list of changes.

Overview

DetectX Swift is an on-demand security and troubleshooting tool that uses a combination of hardcoded search definitions along with live updates and predictive heuristics to detect both known and unknown threats and issues. It provides the user with multiple analytical capabilities regarding both the system’s current state and changes to its state over time related to its ongoing security and performance.

What does it cost? For home use? Nothing if you prefer! DetectX and DetectX Swift are shareware, which means you can go on using them without sharing a cent! That said, we can only continue development if enough people do share, so there is an optional $10 Home registration key available through the app interface

Overview

Minimalist search tool that can help you find files left behind by certain applications, to remove files blocked by macOS’ protection system, and more

There are certain applications that, even if you run their dedicated uninstaller, leave behind junk files that could interfere with your system’s performance. DetectX is a small macOS app that focuses on finding these resources files to help you remove them completely.

Uninstall the apps and then use this search tool to see if there is anything left behind

At the moment, DetectX is searching for dependencies files for the following applications: MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, Genieo, iAntiVirus, and MacCleanse.

Note that if you have these apps installed on your Mac and want to remove them from some reason, you need to go through the traditional uninstallation procedure first: either run their uninstaller, or move the app to the Trash if they don’t provide one.

Once the process is complete, you can employ the DetectX search tool to see if there are any files related to those installations still present on your Mac.

Find malware and adware files, or detect items blocked by the macOS protection system

The utility will display the results in list form, and you can choose to see each item in a Finder window and move it to the Trash with a single drag and drop movement.

Furthermore, DetectX can also be used to identify miscellaneous malware, keyloggers, or items that are automatically blocked by the system, such as Wirelurker.

Keep in mind that DetectX is designed to deal only with a limited number of unwanted elements and popular keylogging software, like AOBO, AMK, EliteKeylogger, LogKext, PKL, Specter Pro, or WebWatcher.

Simple software solution that can help you deal with specific issues

To conclude, DetectX enables you to handle some issues frequently encountered by macOS users.

Some of the search capabilities are aimed to help you completely remove commercial software once you have decided to uninstall it while others can help you identify files that are straightforward malicious.
