TinkerTool System 5 is a collection of system utility features helping you in performing advanced administration tasks on Apple Macintosh computers.   • Added new feature to perform security checks on all executable bundles, not only on applications and software disk images.
  • Added new security analysis indicator that confirms whether executable software has a trusted code signature, in addition to the existing indicator confirming that an application was not modified after the last time it was sealed.
  • The updated security analysis also corrects possible misunderstandings of check results that arise from the handling of ad-hoc signatures and contradicting signatures within executable files containing code for multiple CPU architectures. SSDReporter 1.5.0

SSDReporter is an application that checks the health of your internal Solid State Disks (“SSD” aka “Flash Storage”). Since SSDs have a limited life-time determined by the number of write operations it is important to keep an eye on your SSD status. SSDReporter can warn you by e-mail or on-screen each time the health of your SSD decreases and/or when the health falls below the ‘warning’ or ‘error’ thresholds. The current status of your SSDs is also always easily recognizable because SSDReporter changes its icon (optionally in the menubar) from green to yellow (warning threshold) and finally red (error threshold) as the SSD health decreases.

*** LIMITATIONS & COMPATIBILITY ***

Only ‘internal’ SSDs are supported, disks connected via USB&FireWire do not work with SSDReporter.
eSATA & ThunderBolt connected SSDs may work if the enclosure is S.M.A.R.T.-compatible.
Some SSDs do not support S.M.A.R.T. at all or incompletely and therefore do not work with SSDReporter:

  • the SSDs built into the Early 2015, Early 2016 and Mid 2017 MacBook 12″ are incompatible

Improvements and Fixes in Pixelmator Pro 1.1.1:
  • You can now expand grouped tools by Force clicking a group or clicking and holding it.
  • Export suffixes will now be saved with export presets.
  • SVG images will be exported with more efficient compression.
  • When exporting to SVG, shapes with center stroke outlines would be exported with square corners, instead of the rounded ones in Pixelmator Pro. Fixed.
  • Scrolling the font size field would create undo steps for each intermediate size. Now, undo steps will be created only for the sizes you stop on.
  • When using the Slice tool, selecting an object slice will now select the associated layer in the Layers sidebar and vice versa.

  • The changes are mostly about the dieline generator window of Origami. Inches are now properly set up as documents units when a new dieline is generated. It worked for all the units, except inches before now it is fixed. We also improved CSV support in batch dieline generator.
  • Decimal point rounding has been improved in dieline generator both in manual and batch modes. Origami now displays 4 digits after the decimal point, which is good for inches.
  • Finally, we ported the OpenGL driver selection from Boxshot, so if Origami doesn’t detect the best GPU driver for your system well, you can always help it in the Settings window. This is a Windows only feature, as OpenGL drivers are more predictable on Mac.

What’s New in Appsforlife Owlet 1.6

  • This update adds some nice features like multiple channel support and transition animations. Read on for details.
Linear Workflow:
  • First of all, starting from this version Owlet uses linear rendering workflow. This is somewhat a breaking change, as may affect your scenes. Previous versions of Owlet converted all the input images and colors to sRGB color space, rendered scenes there and exported resulting images “as is”. This worked more or less OK, but was not physically correct.
Starting from this version Owlet converts all the input artwork into linear color space, does all the processing there and converts the result back to sRGB. Here is the difference:
Non-linear vs linear processing in Owlet:
  • Old rendering is on the left, new rendering is on the right. You may see the lit area is pretty much the same, but the light distribution is different. The right one looks more natural.
  • How exactly does it affect your scenes? In a couple of ways. First of all, you may notice everything looks slightly brighter and less contrast. That’s because the main difference between sRGB and linear color spaces is at the “dark” part of the gradient. Reflective surfaces might look more reflective and some lights may not look that bright, as on the picture above. However, exactly as with adverse effects of some medication, most of the scenes will barely be affected at all. No worries, give it a try, embrace and accept it. That’s for good and all the other our products will end up there in the near future.
  • You can read more about this by googling for “linear workflow”, there is plenty of information about it in the Internet.
Multiple Channels Support:
  • There is a small checkbox in the Advanced section of the rendering parameters window called Render extra channels. Once checked, Owlet will render additional images with depth and normals information of the current scene. It will also render so called “clown pass” images for objects and materials.
  • Images are saved next to the main one with special suffixes, so you can easily spot them. It is recommended to save to HDR formats like EXR, HDR or PSD to get the most of the feature, especially for depth and normals passes.
PSD Output:
  • Saving to PSD format is now supported. Owlet makes floatingpoint 32bit PSD files to save all the little details with maximum precision. The resulting images are quite heavy, so feel free to convert them to 8 or 16 bits if you want to send them somewhere. 32bits are perfect for postprocessing, but not for sharing.
  • Also, if you check that Render extra channels box and save image as PSD, you’ll get all the chanells as layers in the PSD file for your convenience.
Transition Animations:
  • Exactly as in Boxshot, you can now render transition between two snapshots in Owlet. Click Tools > Render Transition… in the menu, select two snapshots, setup parameters and render it in job manager. It is pretty much the same as in Boxshot.
Other Improvements:
  • OBJ format loading improved, including the Adobe 3D stock format extensions;
  • Reload Images command added to the Tools menu for your convenience;
  • Environment parameters can be now saved to snapshots;
  • Gizmo can be switched between global and local coordinates by holding Alt/Option key;
  • Missed watermarks are now looked for in the project folder;
  • Default material is now exported to Collada format;
  • Output format selection added to queued scenes in Render Later section;
  • Last used image saving format is set by default;
  • Last used folders for loading and saving files are now opened by default;
  • Improved click selection on high dpi (retina) displays;
  • Boxshot/Origami scenes import has been improved.

Saturated Reflections vs Color Reflection Mask:
  • According to the early feedback on the color reflection mask it was not what you expected. Got it, fixed. The mask is grayscale again, instead there is a “saturated reflection” option that lets you color reflection by diffuse texture.
  • You can read more about it here. Note, that the feature is not yet supported in Owlet/Koru export, until we release update for these apps. You can easily configure it manually there, though.
Other Improvements:
  • Both Simple and Advanced GL preview drivers have been updated to better display HDR images. Environment reflections should look more realistic. Simple GL driver also got reflection masks support, which is essential for showing Origami models with foil.
  • Application startup time has been improved, projects are loaded a little bit faster.
  • 3D PDF export issue related to reflection masks has been fixed. If you export to 3D PDF, this update it a must.
  • Some rarecase crashes have also been fixed.
