The TK7 panel is the newest release of the comprehensive panel for making luminosity masks and running Photoshop. It includes all the features of the previous V6 panel plus many new ones. Like its predecessor, the TK7 panel is modular, so users can configure it in whatever manner works best in their workspace. The Combo module even has two different arrangements to allow a new compact layout if that’s desired. (Sean Bagshaw has a video at the bottom of this page that shows how to do this.) TK panels are used worldwide and come pre-programmed with six common languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Chinese. Users can choose the language they prefer.

The RapidMask module uses the unique Rapid Mask engine to quickly generate entire spectrums of luminosity masks and other pixel-based masks at near real time speeds. The mask-based interface calculates 16-bit masks and users see these up front to make intelligent choices about which one to use. The interface is organized with a top-to-bottom workflow that makes creating masks quick and easy. Numbered sections guide users through the process. There are several modification options including a mask calculator that allows all masks, even modified masks, to be combined in unique ways. The video below provides an overview of all the overall layout of the panel and the newest features.

The TK7 panel is designed exclusively for Photoshop CC to take advantage of the HTML5 architecture that Photoshop CC can accommodate. Below are some of the features of each module.

TKActions V7 Panels Features:

RapidMask

  • Multiple masks/multiple sources−The TK7 panel is much more than just a luminosity mask panel. Channel, color, saturation, and vibrance masks are created just as easily as luminosity masks, and entire spectrums of these pixel-based, self-feathering masks can be generated. The SOURCE menus makes it easy to choose different pixel data as the starting point for making masks
  • Organized workflow−Four distinct sections−SOURCE, MASK, MODIFY, and OUTPUT−that guide users through the mask-making process.
  • New masks−TK7 now has Color Zone masks and CMYK masks.
  • Add and subtract masks with ease−The mask calculator provides an easy way to add, subtract, or intersect any mask created by the panel.
  • More MODIFY options-New modify functions allow precision masks through painting, burning, dodging, and even Photoshop’s Camera Raw filter.
  • Numerous output options−Easily create adjustment layers and pixel layers with the current Rapid Mask as a layer mask.
  • Layer Mask mode−Provides an image-based approach to quickly choose or create the best mask by having the mask applied directly as a layer mask on the active layer.
  • Accent color interface−Only one accent color for the entire module that users can change to whatever they prefer.
  • Click-tracking−Buttons retain an accent-colored shadow after clicking so users can track which mask they last chose.

Combo/Cx

  • Compact design−Combines Photoshop control, web-sharpening, and creative actions into one module.
  • Run Photoshop from the module−Many common Photoshop functions, keyboard shortcuts, and menu items can be run with a single button click from the module.
  • Muted color interface−Separates buttons into logical groups in order to quickly find the correct Photoshop function.
  • Multi-function buttons−Several buttons have dual functions that are graphically displayed on the button itself or can be activated with the CTRL/command key.
  • Use the “TK ▶” button to access the creative Photoshop actions menu−Includes new actions Freehand Vignette, Spotlight, Dehaze and Add Color.
  • Exposure blending actions−Stack, Align, and Focus Blend are part of the “TK ▶” button.
  • Integrated web-sharpening−TK7 now provides multi-dimension support. Sharpen images for the web to any dimension, convert to sRGB, and run post-sharpening actions.
  • Expanded user actions−Ten programmable actions, accessed via the “User ▶” button, allow users to run their own actions directly from the panel.

Batch

  • Multi-image sharpening−Resize and sharpen entire folders of images for the web with one button click.
  • Multi-dimension sharpening−TK7 now allows different vertical and horizontal dimensions that can be combined for folders containing both vertical and horizontal images that need to be resized differently.

All Modules

  • Active selection indicator−Shows when there is an active selection even if there are no marching ants visible.
  • Rollover help−Holding down the ALT/option key and rolling over a button displays a help message at either the top or the bottom of the module.

The goal in creating these styles was to focus around the colors and qualities that resonate with me across a variety of shooting scenarios. I’m typically drawn towards strong yet refined contrast as well as complementary colors, and so that’s what these styles really focus on and draw from. Rather than aim for extreme variances between them, I wanted to keep them all within the same family so each one feels like a natural progression as you explore them on your own images. One area I find that we all struggle with, is to achieve a pleasing and neutral skin tone, and for that I created two skin correcting actions. These actions are meant to take advantage of Capture One’s ability to apply styles to layers, so that their opacity can be backed off as needed in order to work for the widest range of skin tones possible. My hope is that they not only save you time but also serve as a source of inspiration for further manipulation and experimentation.

My inspiration for these Styles came from my favorite locations; Dubai, New York, Los Angeles and Cape Town. I’m travelling a lot throughout the year, but I always try to come back to my favorite places. Every single one of these places have something unique to it. May it be a special color palette or simply how it makes me feel. I tried to put all of that in this Style Pack of looks and basically transport the mood that I’m in when I’m shooting in Cape Town or under the Californian sun. When I am finishing my images the look and feel add as much to the image and my creative vision as for example the model’s pose or the styling so, grading is a very important step for me to communicate what I have in mind when I’m taking photographs.

The mission for this pack is creating a set of colors that would be impossible to live without. With my history as a retoucher, there are common color palettes with high-end color grading that are hard to quantify in words, but easy to identify when you see it. This pack is special to me, it spans a range of looks that make for a beautiful starting point across all genres, especially fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. The variation spans the spectrum of primary and secondary colors along with two timeless black and white looks. This collection of styles will keep giving back every shoot you use them on. I can’t wait for you to explore how your images will look mixed with my palette across different conditions.

Plexus is a plug-in designed to bring generative art closer to a non-linear program like After Effects. It lets you create, manipulate and visualize data in a procedural manner. Not only you can render the particles, but also create all sorts of interesting relationships between them based on various parameters using lines and triangles. The workflow for Plexus is very modular allowing you to create truly infinite set of configurations and parameters.

What’s New in Plexus 3?

Object based UI

Plexus 3 comes with a tree based Object Panel, that helps you organize multiple Plexus objects with in the layer. It improves workflow dramatically and the panel itself is dockable anywhere with in After Effects. It helps you keep track of your Geometry Objects, Effector Objects, Render Objects and Groups by allowing you to select only what you need so no more scrolling through a long Effects Control Window.

Motion Blur

Finally. Now along with Depth of Field, you can add Motion Blur to create cinematic animations. You can use either comp settings or custom camera shutter values.

Sound Effector

A new Sound Effector Object let’s you sample a waveform from a sound layer in AE and apply it to vertex position or scale or color. You can also Echo the sampled waveform so that the sound is sampled over time.

Slicer Object

The Slicer Object let’s you ‘slice’ through a mesh and create interesting visualizations. It works best with OBJ meshes and can be used very well along with the instance object.

Seamless Beams

Render sweeping volumetric beams with seamless rendering. Beams no longer show any ‘overlapping joints’. Not only it improves rendering performance, but also renders much more accurate colors.

Designed for AE’s New Architecture

Plexus 3 was designed from the ground up to take advantage of AE’s new multi-threaded architecture introduced in 13.5. That means better support for Persistent Caching, better performance and the best part, automagically refresh Instances. You can have many nested instances and all the changes are automatically detected. Also, just in case you need to refresh cache, a new button that let’s you do that with a single click without affecting caches of other layers.

Depth Map Culling

You can use a Depth Map exported by a 3D program or Buena Depth Cue to occlude pixels directly. It helps composite Plexus in 3D scenes with ease.

Improved OBJ Import

You can now import OBJ files and file sequences using AE’s default file importer, which helps you organize footage better and collect project files. OBJ Object now also imports normals and texture co-ordinates along with vertex positions and facets.

Nested Compositions

Collapse Transforms for a nested composition, and Plexus behaves like a native AE composition. It reacts to Camera and lights of the native composition. It allows you to pre-comp Plexus layers and still have the flexibility to animate Camera movements.

Null Object Performance

Null Objects have similar performance to point lights if you’re running the latest version of After Effects. No need to convert Nulls exported from 3D applications to point lights anymore.

Path Object Improvements

Path Object is improved with scaling controls for replication and tessellation for closed paths. Now there is yet another way to create 3D text in After Effects, but make it a little more interesting.

Custom Visibility Settings

You can gradually fade or vanish points, lines or polys when they get close to the camera or far away from the camera. You can also custom hide polygons that face towards or away from the camera.

Unified Rendering

Unified rendering allows all objects to have a common 3D space. It allows points, lines & polys created by multiple objects to intersect with one another in z-space.

Loop Noise

You can seamlessly loop noise values for animations. You can cycle through noise evolution and it works for position, scale & color values.

Flux feels like science fiction after so many years wishing that I could have a tool like this.

I’ve had a deep fascination with fractal flames for over 20 years, but the extreme render times and lack of interactive control in programs like Electric Sheep has always kept them a distant fascination. Now along comes Flux, and it absolutely floors me. Not only do I finally get to play with fractal flames, I get to render them in stereo 360º, I can use match moved cameras, and I can actually interactively tweak the parameters. Every time I use Flux I still have to pinch myself that it is real – that it is actually doing what it does.

The first time I used it, I was in awe of what it allowed me to do. How it works

Topograph transforms an input image into a 3D landscape, then horizontally cuts the cake at several altitudes. It then draws the contour of each layers on a 2D image.

Smooth Source

Blurs the input image. The highest will provide smoother, cleaner lines. The lowest will draw steep, sharky lines but will reveal more of the original footage contours.

Number of elevations

Number of slices in the 2D Histogram. Think of a mountain 1000m high. If the number of elevations is set to 4, elevation lines will be drawn by cutting the mountain every 250m.

Since more than one region or contour can happen at the same level, the number of lines drawn can be higher.

Bias

From -1 to 1. If we get back to our mountain metaphor, this setting defines which altitude will be more focused on. By default, set to 0, the elevations will be seperated evenly throughout the height of the mountain. When set to negative values, the lower-end of the mountain will have more separations and when set to positive values, the top of the mountain will get more separations.

Concretely, setting negative values will draw more lines in the darker regions of your image, while setting positive values will draw more lines in the brightest regions of your image.

Smooth Lines

Additional blur on top of the smoothed source, to allow for even smoother lines.

Spacing

Each points on a line can be separated to draw circles instead of lines, that allows for a different look.

Start / End

Defines each line’s starting percentage. Useful for animating transitions.

Offset

This setting will offset the starting point of each lines. Visible only if start is greater than 0% and/or if end is lower than 100%, or if Color Method is set to “Gradient”.

Thickness

In number of pixels, the thickness of the drawing. Can be used in conjunction with the next setting for more precise values.

Sub-pixel precision

Draws the image with less-than-one-pixel accuracy. This allows, for example, thickness to be finer than 1 pixel.

Color > Method

Different choices for colorizing the lines:

  • Custom Color

    Choose a line color with the color picker.

  • Reveal Source

    Draw lines with each pixel’s original color.

  • Smooth Colors

    Takes the color from the blurred version of the source image (according to the “Smooth Source” setting). This generally allows for smooth gradients along the lines.

  • Elevation Length

    Longest lines will be drawn black, while shortest lines will be drawn white. Everything line in-between will have a greyscale value according to its length. Can be used in conjunction with the “Normalize Elevation Length” setting.

  • Gradient

    Each line will start black and finish white.

Normalize Elevation Length

Only used when Color Method is set to “Elevation Length”. Sets the maximum length calculated for colorizing the lines, to control the overall gradient. If set to 0 (default), maximum length will be automatically calculated from the longest line.

Output

Defines which background to use.

Opacity

Opacity of the drawing over the background.

Define your Shapes layers before adding them to your comp.

ShapeUp is a tool to define your shapes BEFORE creating the shape layers and adding them to your composition. It creates “clean” shapes, either AE’s native parametric shapes or ones using custom paths (without utilising merge paths). Rounding and zigzag vector filters may get added for corresponding shapes. Neither expressions nor animations will be applied. As said – clean – to get you started. Just try the demo version and have a look at the user guide linked below.

MAIN FEATURES

ShapeUp is meant as a construction kit to help you when working with standard shapes, e.g. you can quickly create half and quarter sized versions of a “master” rectangle or ellipse or add lines in the same size. Use the input fields with simple math operations to create offsets in size or position.

ShapeUp’s preview displays the defined shape in relation to your active composition to give you an idea about size, position, colors.

Use the “s”-token (selected) in the position fields to easily create the shape at the position of a selected layer, or at the average position with multiple selected layers.

Limitations:

Using the position of a selected object (“s”-token in the position input field) does not work with layers utilising expressions on their position. It works with layers which have one parent, but not if they are rotated or scaled. As ShapeUp is written in “legacy” code, there are some limitations to it’s preview. The preview can’t display all of the details of the shape you are going to create. There are also differences between CS6 and CC. Please have a look at the manual linked below containing a section about that. And try the demo – thanks.

*Note regarding the After Effects June 2019 release (version 16.1.2):

Unfortunately AE 16.1.2 has a bug regarding drawing vector graphics and mouse events within the ScriptUI interface, which results in the disappearing/flickering of these elements. ShapeUp’s build in preview is affected by this issue. So sorry for the temporary inconvenience. The functionality itself is not affected. This specific behaviour doesn’t exist in prior versions of After Effects and should be fixed in the very next minor update of AE. Adobe is informed about this bug and we are hoping for a quick update/fix. Thanks for your understanding and your patience.

What’s New in Shape Up 1.06

Important bug fix:

ShapeUp’s own preference window would write unusable settings which resulted in unfinished shape creations or would even stop ShapeUp from launching. [Thanks to Joel Daniels for reporting this!]

Changes:

  • Cmd/Ctrl Modifier Key:
    • Mac: Switched the previously assigned Mac-Ctrl Key to the proper Mac-Cmd Key.
    • Windows will keep the proper Ctrl Key. Tooltips will display this accordingly.
  • “Equal Sides” and “Lock Ratio”(fixed aspect ratio) toggle settings will be saved now with the “Save Current Input Values as Default” within the preferences window and remembered on script launch.

Search, apply and edit expressions throughout your project. Expressions can be saved, or instantly applied to one or more properties. It can also check for broken expressions, re-enabling them automatically where possible.

Search, apply and edit expressions throughout your project. Expressions can be saved, or instantly applied to one or more properties. It can also check for broken expressions, re-enabling them automatically where possible.

HOW TO USE:

  • SEARCH: Use the search options to specify which expressions you’re looking for. Click the Search button to scan your project for expressions based on your search criteria.
  • FETCH: With Auto Fetch enabled, when you select an expression from the list it will appear in the text edit box ready for editing. When Auto Fetch is off, use the Fetch button to get the selected expression into the edit box. Select a property in your comp instead of the list to fetch the expression from there.
  • APPLY: Edit the expression in the text edit box, then hit the Apply button to apply it to any properties selected in the list. Note: You’ll need to use Ctrl-Return to get a line return in the text edit box.
  • ADD TO TIMELINE: Use this button to add the expression to any selected properties in the Timeline. This is useful if you want to add expressions to properties that don’t already have ones applied. You’ll need to do a new search for any newly added expressions to appear in the list.
  • AUTO TEST: With Auto Test enabled the script tests expressions during a search to ensure they are valid, revealing new errors or re-enabling them if previous errors are fixed. If you do something that breaks your expressions you can just Undo then run a search to re-enable them. While this option is recommended, you can turn it off if you want to do searches that won’t affect the result.
  • ACTIONS: Use the actions/preset pulldown to enabled, disable or remove any selected expressions. Use Refresh List if you’ve made any changes and want to update the list. Use Test Expressions to check the expressions are valid.
  • PRESETS: With an expression in the text edit box, click the Save button to save it as a preset. Select previously saved expressions from the bottom of the action/preset pulldown, then click Apply to add them to any properties selected in the list.

  • Full-length pre-comps: This mode will split the layer and pre-comp it into a comp that is the same length as the original comp.
  • Trimmed adjustment layers: This mode will create a new adjustment layer that is trimmed to the length of every detected scene.
  • Place markers on layer: This mode will create and place markers at every detected edit point.
  • Save thumbnails for each cut/marker: This mode will export a thumbnail for the selected layers or all layers if none is selected. If you add a text layer named: slate it will burn it into each thumbnail. All special keywords work here as well. Position and style your text before running the export. If you add a text file named: export_template.txt in the export folder it will use it to create an export report file.
  • Again special keywords work here and if you use tabs or commas it will be a spreadsheet. Replace ‘layer’ with ‘marker’ in the keywords when exporting thumbnails from markers. Thumbnail size will match the comp resolution.

There is also a very customizable naming system for the newly created layers, comps, markers, etc. You can set the name however you want with the assistance of some special keywords:

  • [layerName]
  • [layerInpoint]
  • [layerLength]
  • [compName]
  • [projectName]
  • [clip#]
    (the number of #’s indicates the number of leading zeroes)
  • [num=##,inc=##]
    (will insert a padded number and increment by the optional inc; add leading zeros to pad. For example [num=0010,inc=20] yields 0010,0030,0050, etc)
  • [sceneColor]
    (Will add the average color of the scene in hex value
  • [roundSceneColor]
    Will round the average color and add it as a hex value. This is useful to find similar clips

Known Issues

We’ve had some reported cases where edits in dpx format image sequences are not detected by Magnum. If you are experiencing this, please convert your dpx files to a different format before processing with Magnum

Good to know

You will get 9 LUTs which I created in the process of experimenting variously to shoot clear images with S-Log. I shot in many different situation day to night to create this LUTs and looks very clean and can feels spring when applying it to footage like you saw in the sample video.

It works on any SONY camera which support S-Log2 / S-Log3, and also, it’s works on any editing software which support 3D LUT (.cube file) like Premiere, FCPX, Davinci Resolve, Photoshop, Lightroom etc…

Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder native Blackmagic RAW (.braw) importer.

The missing piece in your Blackmagic workflow
  • Import and edit your .BRAW footages directly and natively into Adobe Premiere Pro ! And get your .BRAW metadata in Project Panel
  • Reencode your .BRAW with Adobe Media Encoder
  • Access the same RAW color parameters from DaVinci Resolve and Load / Save them thanks to .sidecar files

BRAW Studio is available in two separates licenses : you’ll need BRAW Studio for Premiere Pro to edit .braw in Adobe Premiere Pro and export projects and convert .braw directly from within Premiere Pro.

You’ll need BRAW Studio for Media Encoder to export your project with Adobe Media Encoder, convert .braw in AME’s render queue and create your PPro proxies in batch in Media Encoder.

What’s New in Autokroma BRAW Studio v1.5.2

  • New Uninstall checkbox in the installers to easily uninstall BRAW Studio plugins and panels
  • Fixes in the rendering engine, less crashes
  • New Feature : LUT in BRAW Studio
  • As in DaVinci Resolve, there is now a checkbox “Apply LUT” and a dropdown list to choose the LUT Origin (Embedded or Sidecar)
  • Embedded LUT is the one which was saved from inside the camera when shot
  • Sidecar LUT is the one in the sidecar file next to the braw file. Sidecar LUT is loaded when PPro starts or when the clip is imported
  • The “Save Sidecar” and “Load Sidecar” buttons in Clip Mode are not concerned : LUT will not be saved in Sidecar and not loaded with these buttons
  • These new parameters are invisible if no Embedded or Sidecar LUT are available, only one choice in the dropdown if only oe of them is available
  • Panel :
  • New Metadata : BR Timecode = the good starting timecode of the braw file. Useful to check if the one in PPRo is correct
  • Fixed : After relinking a media, the timecode was wrong again
  • Fixed : “getFilenameFromFilepath” error message
  • OSX License input : pressing COMMAND key will now automatically paste the license because COMMANDV is not working
  • Windows : IE won’t launch anymore when using the popup offline
