If you install and uninstall lots of apps, you’re going to need some way to get rid of the files they leave behind. Most apps create additional files outside of the Applications folder, and these are not normally removed when sending the app to the Trash.
Pearcleaner is an open-source tool that can help you with this. It searches for related files when an app is removed and gives you the option to delete them as well. It’s quite simple to use, but it does have some flaws at the moment.
Easily get rid of app leftovers
There are a few ways to use the app. First, you can just open the main window, browse through your app collection, and uninstall them from there. Second, you can drop apps onto the Pearcleaner Dock icon. Lastly, the Sentinel feature can monitor your Trash folder for software and automatically start up the leftover remover.
Whichever way you choose to go about it, the process is very straightforward. You can inspect the files the app has identified and deselect the ones you would like to keep. There’s also a mini UI mode with a smaller desktop footprint.
Prone to deleting the wrong files, and other issues
Pearcleaner uses a combination of an app’s bundle ID and app name to find associated files. Unfortunately, this leads to some cases of mistaken identity. When uninstalling Logitech G HUB, it also attempted to remove GarageBand’s Application Support/Logic folder, and when uninstalling Text Case, files from a bunch of other apps were also selected.
There are other problems as well. It’s not possible to remove multiple apps at once, like with AppCleaner, leftover files aren’t ranked by confidence level, and dropping apps onto the Dock icon with mini UI mode activated fails to display their details properly.

An AppStore App is not allowed to read system sensors (SMC), so we cannot show detailed temperatures and other sensor data such as fan-speed.
An AppStore App is not allowed to read all processes on the system. This means that the Top-3 App List will not necessarily contain the processes that are currently using the most resources. The List will however show the applications that are using the most resources.
MONIT will underreport Memory usage for Applications in the Top-3 List that spins of sub-processes which we are not allowed to read. In practice, MONIT is quite accurate given the sandbox restrictions it operates under, but for certain applications it will underreport. If you compare with Activity Monitor, you should compare with “Real Memory” and aggregate memory usage of sub-processes.
The thermometer uses an Apple API that does not seem to work properly on older Macs. On MacBooks from 2015 and later it appears to work fine.
Notes:
The Widget connects to an external host to get your Public IP-address. This is the only reliable way to obtain your address. No data is sent, only read.
The Top-3 App List shows App CPU usage normalized (0-100%).
Temperature for your Hard Disk(s) and Battery is displayed according to your settings for Measurement units in System Preferences > Language & Region. If you have selected Metric you get temperature in Celcius otherwise in Fahrenheit.

This update brings a major redesign of the user interface for accessing, configuring and updating PopClip.

The capabilities of recording equipment and media playback devices increase every year, and with them the demand for higher quality content from viewers. But that can you do about that old 720p video recorded years ago, that is now hopelessly outdated?
One option is to use a video upscaler like Topaz Video AI. Excellent results — but might need some tinkering
The program is very easy to work with, and the suggested models tend to be suitable, but not always. It’s generally a good idea to try out multiple models to see which provides the best results. This can be particularly tricky when trying to increase resolution while preserving fine details that blend in with compression artifacts, but I was always able to get a better-looking video in the end.
It’s also good not to be overly optimistic. While the app can upscale videos to up to 8K, if you’re trying to process an old 480p clip, you’re asking for a lot.
Relatively fast processing and simple workflow
As far as rendering speed is concerned, video upscaling is always going to be a slow process. However, Video AI runs natively on Apple Silicon processors and can take full advantage of their far superior capabilities. If you’re on an older Intel Mac, however, you’re going to have a lot of waiting to do.
All in all, Topaz Video AI is one of your best options for video upscaling at the moment. It can compete with any other app of its kind, and its intuitive design makes it an attractive option for non-professionals and those who rely on a straightforward workflow. It also supports batch processing, which is great if you have a bunch of smaller clips to go through.

Geometric Filter turns footage into a geometric approximation. It does so by using our custom proximity matching algorithm, which gives it a bit of a human touch, as it can trace contours and similar regions.
The results are somewhat similar to what you get by using the so-called “style transfer” machine learning algorithms, but with much finer control over the result.
The plugin is aimed at artistic audiences who wish to simulate hand-drawn styles in music videos, visualizations, etc. and for VJs.
Geometric Filter transforms source image into a large number of geometric shapes, approximating the original image. The results are somewhat similar to “style transfer” filters, but with its own distinct flavor and with the ability to fine-tune the output.
There are 20 built-in presets you can explore and get a feel of what the filter can do. Creating your own presets is a breeze and all the parameters are fully keyable.
How it works
The filter works on a principle of finding similar pixels within a range and connecting them with geometric shapes. Following similarly colored pixels usually results in traced image contours, similar to drawing by hand. The process of picking pixels in the image can be tuned to be more predictable or more random.
Available parameters rundown
Preset – Choose from one of twenty styles presets to get quickly started with a certain expression.
Filter Intensity – controls how much the effect is applied. At 0%, the effect is not applied at all, and at 100% (default behavior in previous versions), the effect is applied in full.
Composite On Original – Enable filter output over the original image. Handy for covering up unfilled areas.
Skip Frame(s) – Adjust the FPS of the original footage, and allow fewer frames per second for filtering. This suppresses jitter to better simulate the feeling of traditional cel animation.
▽ Shape parameters
The shape section allows you to tweak what kind of shapes are used for approximating the original image.
Shape type – there are 6 geometric primitives available: lines, curves, triangles, squares, circles and rectangles.
Count – is the number of shapes used for drawing the image.
Recursion Steps – allows the filter to search for continuous stretches of similar color in the same direction, which results in even more traced outlines.
Size – is the starting size of a shape (or the length of a line).
Size Growth – indicates how much the shape can grow in size when searching for similar colors. Effectively setting the size randomness.
Line width – line width affects shape thickness when fill is not selected.
Fill – toggles whether the shapes are filled or just their outlines are kept.
Opacity – sets the alpha of the shapes and gives the image a blurry quality.
Starting Angle/Angle Randomization – define initial angle of the shapes. Use randomization for angle deviation for each particular shape when the result is too uniform.
Angle Range – specifies how far from the chosen angle the algorithm searches for a color match.
▽ Image Matching parameters
Parameters in this section control the strategy of placing the shapes and color matching sensitivity.
Matching Accuracy – describes how precise the filter should be in matching the original image’s colors. Decreasing it gives the output a more chaotic look and faster image processing.
Fade Type – decreases (or increases) the opacity of a shape with its size or its recursion step.
Fade Level – controls how much opacity shade is applied.
Minimum/Maximum Luminosity – limit what range of brightness from the image you wish to use. Useful for skipping too dark or too bright areas.
Starting Position Strategy determines where the shapes are placed, which is especially important when animating. It gives the result more stable or wiggly look. The options are: Random, Stable Random or Grid.
Grid Randomization – randomly moves locations on the grid when using it as a starting position strategy.
Random Seed (Evolution) – the source of randomness for placing geometric shapes. Always produces repeatable results. Can be used for animating image randomness or finding the right seed for your composition.
